Is there a time when the French government announces when the January sales are going to be? I'm planning a trip around the soldes ... a bit early, but hey.

Thanks!

The Metro system in Paris is convenient and easy to use. If you will be in Paris for a while, purchase a 10 pack of metro tickets called a ‘carnet’. Taxis are available but be mindful of the taxi queues you can only hail a taxi if there is no taxi queue nearby.

^ I agree. I never takes taxi's over here because you're always stuck in traffic, anytime and anywhere.

Hello all. I'm going to be in Paris for all of June (first time there!) and I was wondering if any of you know whether the luxury goods...chanel..louis vuitton...christian louboutin.. etc. are less expensive in Paris than in America. And also when the summer sales for these stores would begin. Any information would be much appreciated!

^ I don't think luxury goods are less expensive here then in the US. But maybe you can get VAT refund. That would make it a bit cheaper. And you probably have a wider choice. Summer sales usually start around the beginning of July, sometimes a bit earlier.

I was in Paris in '95 and there was an exquisite little food takeout place in St. Germain called "La Prestige De La Tradicion". The food was so fantastic and the people who worked there were so totally French it was amazing. There was just a sophisticated charm and enchantment about the place that was totally Parisian. It was like a dream, and I have often wondered about it. I'm planning to be in Paris for a month or so in the fall, and I'm hoping it is still there. It's a mind-blowing option for a quick snack. Has anybody been there?

Merci.

GB

^ I love the shop Kiliwatch on Rue Tiquetonne. They have a mix of vintage and new.

Maybe it's "Le Prestige de La Tradition". Hey, I'm going to Paris for French language school. I recognize my weaknesses.

Is there any shop I can get a black or dark grey narrow tie (dior homme or 60s like), like with a 5cm width at the most? Other dark colors/ornaments would also be great. it's impossible to find it in Vienna and since I'll visit Paris anyway I could also go narrow-tie hunting well is there a dior homme boutique in Paris?

um, dior homme is french, and the dior headquarters are based in paris, so yea of course there is a DH boutique here

...actually there are 2 DH boutiques, one avenue montaigne, the other rue royale. there are also DH corner shops at the big department stores (lafayette, printemps). They have plenty of narrow ties, the 4 & 2cm from ss06 i believe.

also check out zara, i bought a beautifull 5cm tie there for 29euros, made in italy too !
