Alfred Hitchcock Presents F/W 11.12

Noticing a very Hitchcockian underscore from several major collections this season. Collection with a vaguely 1960's slant with women who appear at first glance icy, calm, collected and lady-like, but who hide a wild, crazed and potentially dangerous side, waiting to be unleashed.

Love the thread's title, You're so right !
He got a a retrospective show right now in Paris so maybe designers saw it and were inspired.

I have to agree and I really like the idea. Hitchcock heroine's are a superb inspiration for a designer and it seems quite prominent this season.

Its the silhouette of the season!

And it seemed the most clear in the Sander show, imho!

All the way to the hair buns! :excited:

Urban Stylin 05-03-2011 04:25 PM

The trend was in plenty @ Gaultier too

This is one of my all time favorite looks, it's so dramatic, flattering and I've yet to get over it.

I'm happy to see it back on the runways and even though I love seeing people dressed in it from head to toe it still relieves me that it's such a theatrical look. Meaning we won't see it go overboard and watered down on the streets since most people feel 'costume-y' wearing it.

I don't think any collection will top that Hitchcock inspired collection McQueen did a few years back, it's still one of my all time favorite collections:heart:

ETA: I will post a few pictures from it since it was so beautiful :) I hope no one minds

^^That's one of my all-time favorite McQueen collections as well.

Why? I find it incredibly seductive, subversive, elegant but also cheeky, trashy and a bit nasty. Plus, every look was wearable and beyond that, desirable. Because of all that, to me, this collection is truer McQueen DNA than pouf gowns and extreme shoes.

saann 08-03-2011 05:58 PM

^That's the most perfect description I've ever read on it:heart:
This is fashion at it's best, when it's still wearable yet so expressive. It was so brilliant.

And I agree about McQueen, what I really remember him the most for is this collection and the amazonian woman collection (strangely).

just saw a post a few days ago on a blog all about 'birds'-inspired fashions... not this sophisticated hitchcock-heroine look, but downright birdsy. was funny and there were some surprisingly cute inclusions. now if i could just find the link

Hitchcockian influences are always present in fashion. YSL especially. But I find a lot of the pieces don't necessarily capture that Hitcock ultra-suspense with them. Interesting inspiration none the less.
