As much as I love Prada RTW, I don't think it looks that stellar when it goes couture on the red carpet. I like the dresses on Gwyneth and Zooey, though.

Oh, and that reminds me of Carey Mulligan's modified version of the Pre-Fall 2009 dress she wore to the Oscars.

^They really shouldn't of altered that at all, it was already perfect to say the least.

Celebrities always make the designs look horrible-- case in point: Mulligan looks short and stumpy in that particular gown. Her stylist should be fired.

I understand most people can relate more to these stars wearing designer clothes than models, since stars have more realistic proportions, but who's dressing them? For every one Lori Goldstein, there are a hundred terrible so-called stylists dressing these stars.

Talking about Carey Mulligan, reports stated that she's wearing Prada for her wedding. Hope we can see the dress B)

I personally hope they're gonna dig in their archives to dress the women for the MET Ball because there's some really wonders in the past collections. Also Miuccia better select carefully for who she'll custom made her dresses because Prada can easily look awkward on the wrong person.

Carey Mulligan has a really adorable prettiness about her that those signature Prada pieces that are very 50s and 60s-inspired work so well on her, like that snap of her from Chanelcouture09. It may be helpful for these celebrity stylists to always remember when dressing their clientele in Prada that a nonchalant, effortless, understated and laid-back attitude should be adopted when wearing Prada. Unfortuantely, stars always end up looking contrived and forced instead-- like Gaga, who is the epitome of a cheap Halloween custom. And every single piece of couture she wears ends up looking cheap, campy, kitschy, and costumey on her-- that's her thing, I suppose. I'm indifferent towards her and everything she wears and does, but wished she'd leave Prada out of her mess.

They're doing lots of custom dresses lately, aren't they? I think it would be really interesting if they established a "couture label" like Atelier Versace. Great stuff would come out of that.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the path the brand is heading. Unlike some demi-couture brands (like Balmain), Prada has the design the back it up, rather than just have embellished stuff.

But its so hard to pull a archive Prada in the red carpet, at least if your going for a gown. The McQueen year is easier because theres a lot of night wear. Prada is more day wear, so Im predicting a lot of costume made Prada dresses.
