Philippine Government to Auction Imelda Marcos' Jewelry

The Philippine government plans to auction off millions of dollars worth of jewelry left behind by former First Lady Imelda Marcos after she and her husband were driven from power. Representatives of auction houses Christie's and Sotheby's are visiting Manila Thursday, to value the collection, a process that could take several days.

To many people, the flamboyant wife of former President Ferdinand Marcos is best known for the more than 1200 pairs of shoes she left behind in Manila's Malacanang Place when she and her husband fled to Hawaii in 1986. But Imelda Marcos also had an appetite for jewelry.

On another note
 

When Imelda arrived in Honolulu in 1986 she had in her hand carry a diamond crown and a diamond and pearl tiara... I know when I'm fleeing a country, a crown is the first thing I grab.....ya right.

wow.. I can't believe... she would spend that much on jewelry given... everything. I watched Imelda's documentary on PBS and she is definately a charachter.. I don't believe she is an evil woman.. but IMO she had/has her head in the clouds.. :unsure:

I think its too late for the poster to edit the pictures out. I think you have to wait for a mod to get around and delete the pictures.

Has anyone else seen the documentary on Imelda? Its in my Netflix cue. It go great reviews.

Jenner, I've seen the documentary on Imelda, she has a very absurd view on "beauty".

Her collection of shoes is now housed in a Museum in Marikina, Manila and she mentioned she tries 'em on when no one is looking. LOL
