Reese's dress faux pas

GOLDEN GLOBES winner Reese Witherspoon is reportedly fuming after Chanel tricked her into wearing a dress that had already been worn by fellow actress Kirsten Dunst.

The Walk The Line star, who picked up the Best Actress award on Monday night, was allegedly told her gorgeous silver and white prom-style dress was vintage.
However, it now transpires the gown was actually only a few years old – with Kirsten choosing it for an after-party at the 2003 awards.
And now Reese's publicist Nancy Ryder is threatening to stop any of her high-profile actresses, including J-Lo and Renée Zellweger, wearing anything from Chanel again.
Nancy said: "Reese was told the dress was vintage. It was not.
"I'm not angry - just a little disappointed, but the big deal is Reese won the Golden Globe."

geez so what. she looked great in it.

thehepburn 18-01-2006 02:31 PM

It was a fugly dress. Noone should wear it much less 2 different stars at the Golden Globes

i doubt they meant to dupe her, it sounds like just a major snafu that a few heads are going to roll over.

I'm fairly sure Reese doesn't care that much. in fact it might be an amazing publicity thing if they get her to wear Chanel to the oscars.

Well at least Reese looked better in it.

I think they both looked fine in it... But I'd take their male accessories (Ryan or Jake) over that dress any day

susie_bubble 18-01-2006 02:49 PM

^I love the dress actually.

Dunno why these ppl get so miffed about being THE only one to wear THAT dress. It's just A dress.

Baizilla 18-01-2006 02:55 PM

What i don't get is... if they wanted something truly unique.. why don't they go for couture? :ninja:

Meg 18-01-2006 03:28 PM

I agree susie. I think they both brought something different to that dress (though i personally preferred reese in it). Plus doesn't she have a stylist? Shouldn't her stylist be aware of these things?

cosmocat 18-01-2006 03:41 PM

^Exactly. That was my first thought when I saw it. I actaully prefer Kirsten in it, I just think it suits her personality more. But I also adore it.

I think that's just justified. Reese has all reason to be majorly upset about it. Chanel should be indeed punished for it..even though it was a mistake - but its the golden globes! Thats really unprofessional.

It is couture, from the f/w 02 collection.

I dunno, if I was Reese I'd be upset too.

That's very tricky. Her stylist should've been up on that. You can't always believe these PR firms & designers when they say, "no this has never been worn" and you've seen it in their showroom for the past month....

Hum ... well... im waiting for the aftermath ... and I'd love if Reese shows up at the Oscars wearing Chanel couture .. anything but Marchesa! (hate that label!)
