Natural hair glossing
 

Has anyone ever had 'natural hair glossing' - if so, does it work?

I am a natural blonde but had my hair highlighted a couple of months ago and it is kind of dull now, the hair technian mentioned a hair gloss to make it shiny and more colourful again. If anyone who's had it done, does this actually work?

I had this done once...it didnt really do anything, but maybe its because my hair is very, very strong and coarse

I have had my hair glossed before in the salon. I have medium brown hair so it might be more noticable on darker hair, but I saw a big difference. My hair looked great - it looked like glass. The girl who did my gloss actually slipped me a secret - not to actually have it done in the salon!

She told me to go and buy Clairol's Jazzing in Clear (at Sally's) and do it myself. I have ever since, it's so easy. The bottle is only about $5 and lasts about 3 applications (I do it once a month). HTH! :)

How do you apply it?

You wash your hair and then you apply it on to damp hair. It's a thick clear goo substance LOL. The instructions say to put a shower cap on and then put heat on to it (blow dry) for a half an hour. I usually ditch the shower cap and just blow dry my hair directly. It gets a bit crunchy, but it's okay. Then after that you just wash your hair and condition as normal. Takes about an hour total.

i just ordered sebastian cellophanes hair glaze in the chocolate brown color (coffee bean). i'm hoping to use my regular permanent color to do root touchups, and while it's processing, apply the cellophanes to the length to revive the color and give it shine (and prevent unnecessary damage on hair that has already been processed w/ permanent color). i ordered it from ebay and it was shipped the next day.

^^ i finally received the glaze (sebastian colourshines). you apply it to freshly-washed, towel-dried hair, comb through and cover with a processing cap. then you apply heat for 15-20 minutes, let cool, shampoo and condition. not too tricky, and the stuff seems messy but washes off of surfaces pretty quickly.

i used 'coffee bean' which is a chocolate brown - it's noticeably darker than it was before - but the great thing is that the glaze wears off gradually, so no roots. and i was quite happy with how even the color is from root to tip, since my hair has damaged ends w/ a bunch of different porosities going on. :lol:

about the results - my hair is soooo shiny. more shiny with zero product and a quick blowdry than it ever was even with shine serum and flatiron. the color looks super rich and reflective, it almost has a duotone shimmer look. i love this stuff! my hair is pretty dull au naturale. plus it is good for your hair. haha, can you tell i like it? :D oh, and the bottle is 10oz... i used a bit less than 2 for my thick shoulder length hair.

i've only had glossing treatment done in the salon, but i'm excited to try it out at home. your hair gets so shiny and sleek afterwards; it's great!
it'll be a ton cheaper and since it's not dye, i won't have to stress about messing up my bathroom too much.

I have read the above now and I am thinking there must be somewhere in the UK where I can buy natural glossing which is cheap because they are charging £30 in the salon where I am going to go on Tuesday but if I can buy it in the shop somewhere cheaper and it does the trick then I do not see the point in forking out £30 (which could buy me a cheap and cute little dress from Zara or H&M!)

I have blonde hair, so unfortunately, glossing doesn't really show...

However, a couple of years ago I purchased a bottle of Matrix's Prizm off Ebay for a friend of mine (a brunette). This is what they use in salons... she loved it, and her hair was SO glossy. I really recommend it.

Burt's Bee's came out with a new shampoo and conditioner for hair shine, which is actually very effective!

does it make your hair greasy faster?

I used to use Schwarzkopf's magic hair gloss. You sprayed your hair and the result was more than stunning, my hair were to-die-for (and i have blond hair). But the product it's been discontinued. I'm thinking about trying bumble and bumble Bb shine. Anyone tried it?
