Fall/Winter 08.09 Trend Forecast
I know it is ridiculously early for f/w 2009 trend predictions but I was just wondering what do you you think will be all the rage by then?
|
Ooops, I meant to say if anyone has predictions for f/w 2008?
|
it is indeed a bit pointless and far away... but at the same time, collections come and go so fast...
in mid-november Karl Lagerfeld already presents his new pre-fall collection!!! all i think we can predict is very general stuff... maybe even less androginy and more woman, more comercial designers calling themselves edgy, more boring-ladylike-dior, etc etc. Whatever we may predict, the truth of the matter is that Marc Jacobs, Miuccia Prada, and Ghersquiere will do whatever they want: they'll surprise us, they'll make us angry, they'll brainwash us, and we'll end up liking it! |

im thinking strong versions of early 40s dressing. more shaped shoulders. more 70s fashions, floaty dresses , heavier make up, possible return of the disco slut look
|
i agree with the 70s look, it will hit the masses next summer and they'll love it!
|
oh god, i hope so!

bring back tom ford's 90s gucci asap |
I hope the furturistic trend will continue. It's more entertaining to me than watching the 40s, 70s, and 90s be redone.
|
I know People Magazine was predicting the end of the trapeze/empire waist dress in FW 2008. But then again, that's People...
I hope it's true. I'm so sick of maternity wear. |
yea empire its anoying.....i wish the bring back the look of the late 90s(heroin chic except like not on emaciated models)lol
|
2009? By then, we'll all be wearing space suits.
I'm kidding, of course. Who knows what the trend will be? Designers always have something up their sleeves and know how to surprise everyone. There's no accurate way of predicting something so drastic. |
good thread, aaliah.
I do not think it's early at all, I'd even say it's slightly delayed as the shows are almost 4 months away.. WGSN's already flooded with predictions (even S/S 09 ones) and they tend to be extremely accurate... especially when it comes to the allegedly 'unpredictable' designers such as Marc Jacobs and even Miuccia Prada, her last collection pretty much summed up the 'equatorial' trend description WGSN released.. she might interpret it in an individual way (unlike most designers who are barely recognisable season after season while trying to come up with a must-have) but she's still following. I hope MatthewMatthew or Gius can post a full report soon. with my limited access, the only thing that caught my eye and makes me excited so far is: Arabesque. I guess we're back on a road trip after a 2 year stop. -_- |
Arabesque, hmm. Could be intriguing. As long as it goes more exotic than boho, it has endless fab posibilities.
Still, as you said Mullet, it does seem soon to do the whole globe-trotting thing again, especially since it tends to yield such predictable results. |
