digi, ABSOLUTELY agree on Wang Kai Wei, he's one of the most stylish and mysterious filmmakers around, I truly agree with you.

i even found some of Wang's cinematic references in "Amerlie", which is yet another one of my favs.

My ALL TIME FAVORITE:

*Breathless ( A Bout De Souffle) by Jean Luc Godard.
*Pierre Le Fou by Godard.
*Manhattan by Woody Allen, well, almost all of Woody Allen, except a couple of his latest, e.g.Deconstructing Harry,..etc.
*Blow Up by Michaelangelo Antonioni
*Godfather 1 ( thougth the III was horrible.)
*Breakfast at Tiffany's
*Single White Female
*Gigi

that's it for now.....

right now I am loving 'Bring It On'. I love silly teen movies!

'The Manchurian Candidate'
'Fail Safe'
'Cyclo'
'NonStop' (not sure about this name. Its fantastic, I saw it at a film festival in NYC about 2 years ago. Its a Hong Kong film (I think), and all the characters are chasing eachother for various reasons throughout the film. VERY fun!)
'Strictly Ballroom'
'Party Girl'
'Shallow Grave'
'An American in Paris'
'Barcelona'
'Delicatessen'
'Hard Boiled'
'The Talented Mr. Ripley'
'Henry V' (w/ Kenneth Brannagh...probably the only one of his Shakespears that he didn't let his ego ruin)

oh so many good movies, I can't remember them all right now!

digikinder 30-06-2002 11:09 AM

I like David Lynch. I was a big fan of the Twin Peaks series. I'm campaigning for the whole series on DVD from my bf. Wish they weren't staggering the releases.
