if it is true that in one's later work the subjective somewhat draws back, it definitely has something to do with his declared abolition of his old rules. those taboos that once were set by himself. maybe he is trying to lacerate his identity so that he extends beyond, farther. I think it's good if it is some hint of death instead of flaccidity/weakness that he gets at the expense of his coherence.
as for the yarn necklaces, there is some poetry about them as always, but in my eyes it's buddhistic one.
