Lana continues her downward spiral into further, and darker baroque, melancholic pop-- in the best possible sense. She's produced a completely pop film noir, or at least the soundtrack to one, with the addition of this EP. Completely enraptured by Gods And Monsters; this track is beyond beautiful, beyond stellar: It completes the Holy Trinity to Dark Paradise and Carmen. American, Body Electric and Cola are my other instant favourites.
I don't care how contrived or calculated her image may be, she's brought a sophistication, consistency and subtlety in her storytelling siren songs that no other pop star's capable of touching at the moment. She leaves them all in the dust, without even trying.
