THE NEW DITA.NET
Dita’s new site launched today. The previous pink design had been in place for quite a long time, so it’s nice to see something fresh. I like that the new design incorporates two skin options: Glamour Girl and Femme Fatale! A ‘skin chooser’ is an old (for the internet) design element I haven’t seen for a while. This incarnation of the site is much simpler and easier to navigate. I like that it showcases a wide selection of photoshoots as backgrounds.
THE GALLERY
The free public gallery, which was also on the old site, has been repopulated with a new selection of shots. One of the shoots featured throughout is newly released, in general. It was done for anniversary promotions for an Italian based company. I recognise it because I have a substantial amount of media from the promotions which I completely and utterly forget I had and will post very soon. The photo I’ve included here is from that shoot. Browse the gallery for more!
MEMBERS SECTION
I’m not going to go into detail about the members section, because you’re not really supposed to, but I will say that it’s fantastic… a must for any Dita fan of age. Completely worth $19.95 (USD) per month. Personally, I sign up for one month 2-4 times a year.
THE ONLINE STORE
The Sweetshop is now The Boutique. The main page is perfect, you get all the information you need on one page, for all of Dita’s projects. One click and you’re at Rob Robinson for perfume or Glamuse for Von Follies.
The bulk of the online store has moved to District Lines and eBay, giving you an extra level of buyer protection. Aesthetically, I especially like the gorgeous background image on the District Lines page, Dita in red Herve L. Leroux by Ali Mahdavi! I do believe I want some Dita playing cards!
Also, as stated on twitter, you can still make special orders for things like souvenir stockings.
THE CALENDAR
The new calendar format is cute! A new photo for each month from the California themed shoot, by Michael Elins & Elizabeth Stewart, originally for C magazine. Plus a Steve Erle shot for December from the Fredrick’s of Hollywood shoot.
