if you want like a small digital camera one get a canon powershot sd630 6.0 mp, but for manual nikon is always the best.. as a beginner they say that a nikon f80 would be suitable thats what i use for manuals. for digital also nikon d100 or 200 though 200 may be a bit advanced.. but you know what?: you should get like a real old antique camera-a cheap one, they do sell second hand ones-like an old pentax or minolta.. that's how i started my dad gave me his old camera, it's really great and very very suitable for a beginner
