last night, my sweetie and i were watching one of his favorite childhood movies,
The Wizard. it was my first time seeing the film, and i found myself growing attracted to a certain scrappy, spunky tough-on-the-outside/sad-and-sweet-on-the-inside girl named hayley. hayley had awesome early 1990s style--think printed jumper dresses with tiers, layered over a purple tees and brown mid-calf boots, bold orangey-red hair with bangs. and let's not forget how she lugged around a huge floral travel tote with all her sunglasses and clothes while hitchhiking around California and Nevada.
now to me, nothing beats a fierce girl with heart and funky style, so when the credits rolled i scanned the screen to see who played hayley....the actress' name flashes by, and i think, "oh, okay"....
....then i sit up straight and squeal, "What?! THE jenny lewis??? No way!" and my sweetie's perplexed. "jenny lewis! of rilo kiley!!" i remind him. i go online to confirm my suspicions, and yes indeedy, jenny lewis of
the wizard is jenny lewis of rilo kiley and the watson twins fame.
