While I'm scanning (Daria's edit first - just tell me what to do next ) I will give a quick rundown of the edits and other content.
Made in Spain
Subject: Penelope Cruz
Photographer: Annie Liebowitz
Fashion Editor: Tonne Goodman
Hair: Dieder Malige
Makeup: Gucci Westman
Penelope, matadors, romance, a brief apperence by Monica Cruz and Pedro Almodovar. This edit is a love story to Spain. Very beautiful. Lots of great dresses a good deal of Dior and Marchesa.
Masterpiece Theatre
Model: Daria Werbowy
Photographer: Mario Testino
Fashion Editor: Grace Coddington
Hair: Julian D'Ys
Makeup: Stephane Marais
Daria serves as artist muse to painter George Condo. Very nice - though Daria's hair is an unusual greyish shade in this. We are treated to a great deal of Condo's artwork and I believe it was shot in his home. Lots of clothing from the resort collections - the whole edit has a spring vibe.
The Luster Factor
Model: Doutzen
Photographer: Patrick Demarchelier
Fashion Editor: Tonne Goodman
Hair:Garren
Makeup: Stephane Marais
Typical studio edit. Doutzen looks good though - she has a big curly afro and every outfit is a shade of glittering gold. Its not bad but I feel like we've seen this edit before in Vogue many times over.
Precious Gemma
Model: Gemma Ward
Photographer: Norman Jean Roy
Fashion Editor: Elissa Santisi
Hair: Yannick d'ls
Makeup: Lisa Houghton
I love this edit. Norman Jean Roy is quickly becoming one of my favorite US Vogue contributors. Its all very simple - Gemma in gems but its oh so pretty and a little quirky. Gemma is a housewife and she appears to be cleaning up. It reminds me a bit of those futuristic edits Steven Klein did awhile back in Vogue with the robots but this is much more twee. Amazing gems and a mix of resort clothes.
With articles we have:
- Great perfume article in the Beauty section - normal guy consults perfume experts on what to buy for his wife. Now I know this sounds kind of meh but I loved reading it and I thought it was informative. Frederic Malle is one of the experts he speaks to (Galliano is another) and if I could build a temple to Frederic Malle I would.
- Norwich talks to some socialites about eco gifts. I think his business cards actually read "Socialite Wrangler"
- The focus of this months food article is Scandinavian Gravlax, a sort of salmon dish that sounds really cool. I love the food articles.
- Penelope interview, naturally.
- Article on Bono and Damien Hirst teaming up to raise money for AIDS relief.
- Lulu Guinness' home collection article.
- Next Big Thing Article - Mainly young Brits
- The entire look of the start of the magazine has changed Was it like this last month? I'm blanking.
- Ooh and Shannan Click picture with the jewelry article and Liya picture with a beauty article.
- ALT is ALT and fabulous.
