I'm certainly interested in this
I have a blog in my signature, if you have some time to check it out
I'm already a journalist now, but I do use the blog and social media sites i've started as leverage, absolutely, for other stuff.

You just have to go after what you want. I read constantly and if there is somebody I want to know or network with, or get in front of, I find their email and I email them. Sometimes, it can take a while to do but I'm tenacious. I just email, make clear why I think we could have synergy and just see how it goes from there.

Writing is all about talent. Yea, as a journalist you need to know also how to write under deadlines, write into a specific voice, etc. but that should all be something you can either already do or adapt to quickly because you've already got the writing talent, so focus on what you can provide and just keep going after as much work as possible. Email those you'd like to work with and just keep at it. Networking is a huge, huge part. Not all networking provides an outcome right away so just do it to expand your collection of contacts more than to see immediate results. start by going to sites and reading other journalist's stuff and email them saying "hey, your work is great - i'm just starting out, but doing well, you can see me on xyz. if you're ever free we should get lunch. it's always good to know people in the industry!'

believe it or not, it's actually a little hard to find good writers and especially ones who deliver as freelancers. be super sharp and on time all the time, sticking to the word count and understanding the audience regardless of who you write for as much as possible.

hope that's helpful! I'll check out your blog!
