When you do a dress with a dozen layers of tulle, and embellishments here and there... you can't really tell how it fits, what every seam is like... it's more about the visual impact and not so much the luxurious detail.

i actually think that it's exactly the opposite to what cavalli says: doing sexual/over-embellished/baroque is a lot easier than doing minimal...

the cavalli style stands for "not knowing how to do things right, and on the process of summing up all sorts of wrong stuff, you get to a point when it somewhat looks right" (warhol dixit)
the leopard prints, the flesh-exposure, the gold, all bling bling... it's breaking every rule of """"""good-taste"""""" to make the utterly kitsch look appealing... and that's the only reason why people like it.

in defense of minimalism i just want you all, detractors of it, to picture two different images in your head.
the first: victoria beckham wearing the very famous cavalli green dress in monaco (HOT!)...
and now imagine any other woman... maybe one who is older, whose arms are not so toned, whose breast are not so firm, whose general body proportions differ from the beckham-standard, wearing the same dress. don't you think she would look a lot better in a well fitted and nicely structured jil sander (or even Carolina Herrera) dress? one that hugs her figure beautifully and enhances her best features.
So i said "HOT!"... but hot who? the dress (work of cavalli) or the body (work of various surgeons, mother nature, and so on...)
If you wanna wear the cavalli, you either have the body already or you don't... and that being the case, either if it is because you have spent thousands on plastic surgery or you are that blessed by nature, you can put cavalli, or dior, or zara, or hot topic, of old shabby curtains and anything will look good on you.
It's not the dress who makes you look beautiful, you must be somewhat beautiful already to nowadays standards... and that by no means is something cavalli should deserve any credit for.
Cavalli's work is just pinning organza to a living mannequin and covering it's nipples with it, and THAT is what ANYONE can do... not minimalism.

ANYONE CAN DO ANYTHING.

It seems like everyone now a days is all minimal, it's annoying and it's getting tired.

WHERES THE SEX APPEAL? Jil Sander is NOT sexy.
