Model behaviour By Patty Huntington
February 15, 2005

It was a case of spot the Australians at last week's New York shows, with a posse of Aussie models in the Big Apple hoping to become the next Gemma Ward. Tara Subkoff's edgy Imitation of Christ show groaned with antipodeans: Alexandra Agoston-O'Connor, Amy Finlayson, Elyse Taylor and Courtney Hopper. Taylor's other shows included Baby Phat, James Coviello and Jennifer Lopez. Miranda Kerr modelled for Betsey Johnson, Baby Phat and Heatherette (and a Levi's campaign with photographer Nathaniel Goldberg). Cheyenne Tozzi strolled for Hollywould. And Henry Pallett did the same for Marc Jacobs. Agoston-O'Connor was, as predicted in the SMH (February 5), the week's hottest new Australian, with an impressive 21 confirmed shows at press time, including Proenza Schouler, Monique l'Huillier and Jennifer (daughter of Jack) Nicholson. On Friday she was summoned to US Vogue. All will be documented in a behind-the-scenes New York fashion week diary that Agoston-O'Connor is compiling for Australian Russh magazine. Her overnight success may mean she will not return to Sydney this week as planned, but go to Europe, where she has a potential exclusive with Prada and Miu Miu. "We're taking each day at a time," says proud mother - and chaperone - Susie.
