Great thread! If I had to pick one photographer whose photographs were the only ones I got to enjoy for the rest of my life it would be Bourdin. I'm mesmerized by him. His usage of colors just takes me to another place and his sense for movement is so fantastic. I think part of the reason I enjoy his work so much is because it is often unintelligible - it's ideas that mean something to him and that you can fantisize about without there being a 'truth' about the meaning behind it - because I'm not sure he even knew what the meaning was himself sometimes (a bit like Bowie, there, taking a text that means something very important, randomizing the words and picking what sounds best). Not unlike David Lynch either (Mulholland Dr). He seems to have been a bit of a, at least pragmatic, sadist, but I'm afraid I don't care much since he produced images like these.
