The moment Sal enters the room Marina throws herself on his neck and for several hours it’s impossible to “unstick” them from each other (thanks God it’s absolutely corresponds to the idea of the photoshoot). Every time Maryna changes the clothes, brutal Sal is humming “Oh, baby, you are so beautiful!” After the photographer’s order “Clothes off!” they gamble naked in the bath. “Yeah, this is how we have fun. Looking at this couple I think how lucky Sal is to have such a beauty as Maryna. But what is strange is that Maryna behave as if the greatest piece of luck in her life is not shooting by Demarchelier and Coppola, but Sal : "I like reliable men. Sal always keeps an eye on me and controls where I am, with who and what I have on. He doesn’t let me wear mini-skirts when I go out alone. And you know what….I like it!!!”
It’s so strange to hear these words from a self-sufficient girl who supports her parents and her brother (future NHL player). But Maryna explains: “I’m very hot-tempered and full of emotions, while Sal –in spite of his Italian origin- is calm and sober-minded, he can calm me down as nobody else can. I can trust him; he is kind and has great sense of humour. What more do I need to be happy?”
Today they are the first “it couple” in NY. Everybody wants to see them at their party. Today they visit the B-day party of Liv Tailer, tomorrow Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana drop in at Maryna’s place in Downtown (Maryna and Sal do not live together at the moment, but plan to buy new apartments).
Sal usually works at night but Marina doesn’t go out with him so often (her day starts at 6 a.m.) and visits places where she knows at least 30 % of the guests. It is desirable if there is also her friends- Sasha Pivovarova with her husband Igor Vishnyakov, Anja Rubik with her boyfriend and Natasha Poly.
When Maryna was 16 she had her first chance to “conquer” Paris, but she failed and worked in Japan, where it’s easy to earn money but difficult to achieve fame and glory. Pavel Zotov (the manager of IQ Models) brought her around to give up her life in Japan (where she had a boyfriend at that moment, who was a buddy of Sal, by the way) and to turn over a new leaf in Europe.
The first mishap in Paris played into the Marynas hands. She matured, learned English and realized how to woo designers and fashion editors.
Great photographer Steven Meisel fall for Maryna as well, and their shooting for Vogue Italy was the first serious step in her carrier. “I had a bikini on. Steven pasted me a beard, made my hair up and made me look like a man. Then he turned the music on and told me to start dancing striptease. I started dancing. He liked it. Maybe he thought that I’m used to doing it.”
Now Maryna takes a shot at related spheres. Not a long time ago she designed a jacket for Rag & Bone.
“I really liked this idea. When I was little my parents had a leather-shop in Minsk, and since that time when I feel leathery odor I’m longing for home. I have a great collection of leather jackets (15 at least)- Balenciaga, Gucci, vintage Belstaff. So I took all my treasures, looked at them and started to think what I like. I decided that the jacket should have three pockets and elbow sleeve slash.” 300 jackets Maryna Linchuk for Rag & Bone were sold for 1300 $ each.
In addition Maryna appeared in the new Sofia Coppola's movie Somewhere. They worked together for Miss Dior Chėrie and Sofia appreciated Maryna’s abilities.
“I appear in the movie just for several minutes with the only purpose to seduce the main character. Right now I’m a model. It’s difficult to combine several activities and do both of them professionally” – says Maryna.
Rumour has it that soon Maryna will sign a $ million-contract with one of cosmetic giants.
While Maryna and Sal are looking for luxe apartments in NY, Marinas parents deceive themselves with fond hopes that she will marry a Russian or a Belarusian. But they still have some time to accept “moral(e)” choice of their daughter.
