this, i immediately think of Roversi portraits ... The strength and 'truth' he manages to capture in his portraits are two things I see in this mugshot of the 1900-1930s ...
His technic (or maybe is it his camera, someone else should say better) also reminds me of some photos of this period.
and of course, the fact he shot in B&W .....
