It works really well for most pop stars, but indie artists are expected to write their own music. Not because of indie cred, but because artists who aren't making lots of money for the label need to write their own music to keep costs down. They might shell out for a couple more albums hoping that Taylor will become the next Paramore, but at some point they're going to lose their patience. Especially if she keeps putting herself outside of the mainstream. Labels tolerate a lot of small time artists, but only if said artists will do what they say to try and sell more records. Wearing lingerie is probably less of a problem for them then wanting to make original but not lucrative music, but the bottom line of paying writers will kill TPR unless she gives in and goes pop.
