Balmain F/W 2018.19 by An Le

I was thrilled when I read her name but I can't recognize Milla in this shot

Gosh, she's just so ageless! Not the best shot of her, but it holds promise. I like the angle, and the lightness (a rarity for Balmain!), and I'm glad they hired a proper photographer.

Looking like a mix of Linda and Vittoria in some of these.

Well it's certainly better than what we saw from Balmain the previous seasons...

This is actually pretty good... the simple styling actually shows off the clothes well and Mila looks gorgeous!

YES for Olivier to start using professional photographers again for the campaign...

The only good shot is the cropped one of her in the silver dress.

Balmain going Juergen Teller is not a good move. I much preferred the campaign that Olivier shot himself. Olivier knows how to present OTT-tacky with opulence. And that's the heart of his Balmain. This is not.

I love it! I think that Milla is great for Balmain and she really sells those outfits. However, those pictures would have looked better with natural light and without flash and also I would like to see Milla with her mouth shut.

Milla and An are really elevating this...funny what a real photographer and model can do.

It's funny you mention this because they've worked together for two of my fave shoots - Vogue Ukraine and Taiwan (yes, I said Taiwan, lol.) I've always considered Milla somewhat evergreen. She' somehow retained that same freshness ever since I saw her in Two Moon Junction.

Olivier can create OTT-tacky with opulence so well because he IS OTT-tacky with opulence. What more can one expect from a man who appears to be styling himself after the Kardashians? But back to his work, even if you take it at face value, it's too nonsensical for words. At least layer it with some substance instead of just brazenly copying from Klein without an ounce of wit. Ultimately Olivier's campaigns just end up .......cheesy. I know, I know, the word alone make Phuel's knees go weak!

Happy for An Le! Looks much better than Olivier's past campaigns.

Very clean and slick. It's a nice change. This collection could have looked really tacky, instead Mila makes it look chic.

The editing took away that tough badd *** Milla that we love and kinda softened her. i wish they had edited it in a more raw format like the video ad but all in all its a fantastic ad!

Olivier’s Balmain is not Helmut Lang by Juergen Teller, Benn. Why pretend to be something you’re not even on the same dimension as…???? Cuz the Kim-clones of the world that covet this brand will suddenly stop being up their own surgically-enlarged butts after seeing this campaign and how raw, real and candid Balmain can be?

(And that last shot of Mila holding her head is LOL-nonsensical. So drama club-angsty, so telenovela, so phoney LOOOL Mila’s a decent enough model, I guess-- but she wishes she could own like Linda on Linda's worst day, Scotty.)

I only liked the shots of her in the beige dress (almost looks nice on her, that monstrosity) and the one in the silver one. The rest just doesn't do it for me. He really needs all the help he can get to make his clothes look less like circus costumes.

The clothes look good on Mila though, at least they didn't put crazy stuff on her.
