I have been reading all the threads about old hollywood actresses, so now im really interested in movies from that era...besides the obvious movies like casablanca, gone with the wind and breakfast at tiffany's, I have no idea what movies to see! anyone feel like helping me out with the name of old (b/w or colour), 1910-1945 movies that you have seen and would recommend to me? Non-english movies (with subtitles) are also okay with me:smile: thanks in advance chicas! :D

I edited the title and pinned this so that it would get seen by everyone in here:woot: You can expand your list to fit this entire Icon subforum. Just remember, must be pre-1980's.

Breakfast at Tiffany's
Psycho
How to mary a Millionaire
Casablanca

I adore 1930-1960 film. I just love that era, I wish I was born so that I could have lived through it, such an elegant and classy time imo.

Here are my personal favorurites that I would definately suggest.

-Wuthering Heights; Lawrence Olivier is absolutley gorgeous in it.
-To have and have not- I love the chemistry between Bogie and Bacall, she is such a beautiful woman.
-An affair to remember; My favourite Cary Grant movie, Deborah Kerr is really stunning in it, I was never really a fan of her, but I love her in this.
-Gentleman's Agreement; Gregory peck is amazing , it's a moving story about anti-seminism
-Duel in the sun; Westen movie but it was the first Peck movie I saw when I was about 8/9, and I fell in love with him
-Wait until dark; 60's Hepburn movie, not my personal favoutite time period, I hate that mod look etc, but she's great in it, and it's a less common movie of her's and shows her acting range well.
-Pride and Prejudice; The best Austen adaptation imo
-Little Women; I think the fact that it's black and white adds to the appeal, as well and Katherine Hepburns beauty.
-Rebecca; Such an eerie movie, beautifully acted, although I'd also suggest the book by Daphne Du Maurier.
-Roman Holiday; The only bad point about the movie is that I so wanted Gregory and Audrey to be together but that's the whole point I suppose, duty and love
-Sabrina Fair; Audrey is so adorable in it, and I love love love her outfits, she is the epitome of parisian chic in this movie
-Marked Woman; It was a strange liking for me, but Bogart is at his best in it imo, such a talanted actor.
-Suspicion;- Joan Fontaine is beautiful as always, Cary Grant delivers as the desirable rebel as always, he's très attractive whilst doing it.
-Spellbound; Not a Bergman fan at all, I don't see the appeal but she's brilliant in this as is Mr. Peck...thats why I like it, can't get enough that scoundrel.
