Vogue Australia October 2018 : Dakota Johnson by Emma Summerton

This is probably Dakota's best cover yet - despite being posed, she doesn't look stiff (unlike her ad for Gucci where she looked like she was about the sneeze in some shots :stuart:). This shade of red looks beautiful on her -lips and dress. Still not sure how I feel about the curly hair, but good on her for willing to experiment! The cover reminds me a little of the Vanity Fair covers- perhaps it's the red and white colour scheme?

A very unconventional cover for both Dakota and VA, and it was a risk shich imo paid off. I like how the focus is on the dress and ivory shoes. It's just the art direction which need some pulling together. And while they're at it, I think they should also hire a professional copywriter who can come up with punchier coverlines.

Not having seen any of the 50 Shades movies (same goes for anything which attract a lot of stan culture, like Twilight, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars etc), I'm not really familiar with the sexy or seductive side of Dakota. Despite playing the female lead in that movie it seems magazine often style her in a 'girl next door' kind of way. That's what makes this cover unique in a sense.

I love this cover. She looks fantastic!

It definitely feels much more December though.

The dress is stunning, but her hair, shoes and tattoo not.
Can't see her appeal.

I hate the shoes and yes it looks like a Vanity Fair cover.

Who is she? what is she? and why is she?

WHO? Dakota Johnson, Hollywood scion. WHAT? She is an actress. WHY? She was the lead in the 50 Shades movies, which despite being critically panned, made a bunch of money. And she's also been in more acclaimed films, such as A Bigger Splash and the soon-to-be-released Suspiria. Also she's become a fashion darling and brand ambassador for Gucci.

Oh yeah, this is beautiful, and luxe, easily her best Vogue cover. Well done, they needed this win, after such a horrible string of covers this year!

This strikes me as very UK VOGUE c. early 2000s. With Tatjana Patitz on the cover. However, it's missing something.

Can anyone ID the coverline typeface? I felt like I'd seen it before and then it dawned on me:

what´s going on with the styling? VA wants to appeal to the international market that badly?

I find Dakota's editorial very Paz de la Huerta for Agent Provocateur some years ago and I don't know why.

The definition of pretentious.

The first pic of Dakota's ed is freaking hot, it blew me away when I was reading this magazine.
