Yohji Yamamoto S/S 1999 Paris

I can't tell you how many times I've seen these clips.

Really cool japanese tv documentaries on this collection, both the Paris and Tokyo presentations. I don't understand a word of japanese but it's so nice seeing Trish Goff trying on the prototypes of the inflatable crinoline, Limi tidying up the dresses with the other assistants, Yohji directing the models on how to dress/un dress gracefully, the way he takes a peak through the curtains during the Paris show and tears up a bit at the end when Shalom Harlow wears the "bride in mourning" dress.

Bonus points because we get to see him attend his karate training, Karl complementing him in french and the shooting of the lookbook/campaign. Priceless.

P. S. Inez Van Lamsweerde is interviewed and her voice is remarkably similar to Sofia Coppola's.

I just found out about this collection the other day, I'm mad at myself for not watching it ever before. It is just so beautiful...the gorgeous clothes, the amazing models, the emotion of it all. It is such a joy to watch.

Also there's this Style.com Throwback Thursday clip about the show:
