1895-1937 Callot Soeurs

Cummings) is wearing a one-shouldered bias-cut silk satin sheath gown with dark, diagonally cut drop bodice and light-colored slim skirt wrapped to form two-layered hemline, matching scarf falling from one hip, designed by Callot; pearl earrings, necklace, bracelets, rings; and satin, twisted T-strap shoes.

The embroidery on the skirt is very art nouveau, thanks for sharing it with us!

Right: Callot Soeurs, evening dress, black silk crepe de chine, gold lamé, and tulle, c.1924, France, 2002.87.1, museum purchase

Orientalist inspiration is realized in a streamlined silhouette that recalls the spiral draping of an Indian sari and the glazed surface of Chinese lacquer. The gold brocaded bands emphasize this Eastern influence while highlighting the cylindrical shape of the dress, underscoring both the exoticism and modernity of this Art Deco design.
