Officially, yes, but my SA seemed to imply otherwise...

Yes, you guys can go in now and basically ask them to put on hold whatever you want.. even though the presale is not until Friday.. some Sales will want to get to their target sale they will do anything.

I know Barneys doesn't have that much Dior stuff left... and what is left is all big sizes.

Sorry guys for not responding it faster enough! I don't check tfs very often now as I travel too much and internet access is not until very late or very early where-ever I am...

Thanks, ionn. What exactly does pre-sale mean, though? Does that mean only selected customers can buy the items at the discount?

NOOOOO I WANT MY DIOR

FtB... now that Baklanyc has explained to you more in detail... I think the best part is really just ask them to send it to you like Faust said. You can save on the tax especially you live in a different States.

I HATE going to DIOR HOMME shop in NYC now because you get hit with double whammy of shipping and tax... so stupid.

Well.. now I have more opportunity to buy Dior stuff at Shanghai.. I have found SEVERAL pieces of clothing that are SOOOOOOOOOOO nice that I didn't even see anywhere in NYC even at Maxfield or Saks... so now Dior Shanghai is my fave bet... although their sales will be very very late...and is only 30% off rather then 40% so I am told.

I picked up this waxed Blue jeans which I have never seen even in Japan.. and it is Made in Japan just 1 week ago.. I am just soooo surprised:o

Where do you live ionn26, in Shanghai? Are you also a Chinese? ;)

I may go back to Shanghai next month for a school break, I am so fed up with doing my Ph.D. now. I am really interested in checking that Dior Homme boutique at Plaza 66 although I am not really a huge fan of Dior Homme and it's also way too much expensive. What's Dior Homme's price in Shanghai boutique like compared with in the US? Is it much more expensive because of the extra import tariff for luxury goods?

Have you ever checked out the men's fashion store at Three on the Bund? I know they carry stuff like Ann Demeulemeester and Yohji, wondering what their selections are like.

I was in both those places about two months ago. Three on the Bund had the most Demeulemeester in one place that I've ever seen. They had an OK Yohji selection--less Homme, more Y's. They had a lot of Costume National too, and YSL. Dior Homme is significantly more expensive there than the U.S.

That's neither here nor there though--looks like Friday is the day to go to the city. I always love it when people complain that only the large sizes are left--that means more selection for me! ;) I think that driving out of the city tomorrow afternoon will be a nightmare anyway, so I'll just drive in on Friday...

haosch, I am Chinese yes, but I don't live in Shanghai, I travel to Shanghai often. I live in the States in Chicago. The pricing in Shanghai is a tad more expensive but not much more. Although.. alot of unique pieces I don't see it in the US so I don't know how that compares. Bear in mind the pricing is still fluctuating a lot for Dior. The leather jacket has been keep going up and the Jeans prices has come down.

I was only able to check out Dior Homme.. .I didn't check out the Bund...anyway.. I digress... if you want to chat, msg me.

kLm... sorry I was not complaining about the big sizes left for Dior... Actually in a way it is good to see big sizes so I don't spend on everything I can get my hand on when it goes on sale:lol:   I am such a shopaholic... SOMEONE STOP ME !!!!:ninja:

Good luck hunting!!!! I am already breaking my bank and budget!!!

A + Barneys = can't go wrong ;) Please report if you buy anything. I am strapped (from big spending) for another month until my birthday, so I can only delight in listening :D.

...how long do the sales last. I usually buy sale items mid-december...but it seems many sales stay until mid-January....anyone know?

...oh, and does anyone have any Marc Jacobs or Marc by Marc sale info?

Marc by Marc never has sales for regular clothes. Marc collection normally start the sale in Dec. They had 70% off right away last yr in Dec., but I suspect that they will do 40% off and then 70% off later this winter based on my summer experience.

I'm on a (theoretical) boycott of Atelier from now on. At least, until I find something I can not live without.

Although with my current penchant for importing things from Japan, I have neither the resources nor the desire to buy anything locally. :)

I just called Saks in NYC. there will be a 40% sale from 8am to 12pm. The discount will be 20% to 30% afterwards.
I think that their sale is much less attractive this yr.

I am so jealous of you guys living on the east coast!!!

Thanks for your responses and information, KLM and ionn26! Enjoy your splashing-out this weekend in NYC, just be careful, don't get broke!

hey guys, just an update. I called saks in NYC and Boston, and the designer stuff (such as Prada, etc) will NOT be on sale in this round. They will be on sale after Christmas.
It is surprising to me. I remember how crazy the discount was last yr. I am a little disappointed. Re-considering my shopping strategy now:innocent:
