2011 Academy Awards

^it´s ok. I thought there were pictures and I couldn´t see them

I copied it from another forum where I had posted it with pictures and then forgot to edit out the spaces. I tried to edit them out just now, but it says I can't because I posted it over 10 minutes ago. Sorry.

I agree with your predictions. But yesterday I watched a video on Eonline where the guy predicted the Coens would take Best Director. Please NO! I truly hope they recognise Fincher.

And if there were any surprise winners, I'd hope for TSN to take BP home... ^_^

The King's Speech is really good, imo, but also exactly how one would expect it to be. It didn't take any risks. Not necessarily a fault (if it ain't broke, don't fix it), but I'd rather see something else take home the award.

Here's how I'd rank the 8 Best Picture nominees I've seen:

Inception
Black Swan
The Social Network
The Kids Are All Right
Winter's Bone
The King's Speech
Toy Story 3
True Grit

I actually enjoyed them all, though, which is odd since I normally very much disagree with the Academy.

^I pretty much agree with your list (though I haven´t seen TKS). I´d move up TS3 after BS

Oscars are such a bad joke, I'm only watching for the pretty dresses.
The only picture I really want to win is Exit through the gift shop.

I think my favourite movie of the year, from the BP nominees, is actually 127 hours. I really loved it! And it felt very original, as far as the concept of the film goes. But there's no way it'll win anything.

YAY COLIN!
I just adore Colin and I am suuuuper happy for his win.

YAY NATALIE!
She did deserve it.

YAY CHRISTIAN!

YAY WALLY PFISTER!

YAY ANNA AND JAMES!
They did such a wonderful job!

Anne and James did a great job  Especially Anne  I love how excited she was.

^I have to disagree. imo they did a terrible job, Franco barely did something, he looked h!gh (with downers) the entire show. Anne seemed h!gh as well only she couldn´t stop Wooohooo-ing LOL

no oscar for david fincher?? seriously?! (when hooper won I had the faint hope that the social network would win best picture, but no :( )

I'm really happy for natalie portman and colin firth! (even though both their wins were highly predictable)

did anyone else love how they turned a few movies into musicals? I was laughing so hard, especially at the social network and twilight eclipse part

no oscar for david fincher??

This is the part I take issue with most. I can take The King's Speech winning Best Pic. But no way Tom Hooper should have won for Director. Not when you look at the strength of the other nominees.

Overall it was a pretty dull show. Yeah it finished quicker than usual. But I didn't find the jokes that funny. Franco looked like he was in some sort of coma and Hathaway was compensating by wooping all the time. She can come back but they need to find a new partner.

flashbang,i must concur with you about that. loved that format.

all in all,the show was pretty tedious,as i expected. the whole dress thing from franco was a desperate ploy. the only real funny part was the beginning when they were superimposed within the film scenes. but even there,an old trick. like some were saying in the other thread,a bit of an MTV schtick, actually. anyway, then there was hathaway's incessant fawning and overdone exuberance. really annoying. really, seeing billy crystal on stage made me miss the beauty of having real comics as hosts.

^^I agree with everything you said Chaky  And woo hoo Natalie! :D

She smiled so much, her face muscles must be aching :ninja:

I love Crystal. He was very low key and sophisticated and without a doubt the funniest moment of all show, imo.

that's what i mean. comics have this ability of keeping the laughs prevalent but also keeping the show moving along, which is obviously the most important. the gimmicks are not that interesting to me unless they have a comedic purpose. like when whoopi goldberg descended from behind the curtain as queen elizabeth in 99.....that was pretty hilarious.

btw,did anybody happen to notice that they omitted maria schneider(last tango)and cory haim from the memorium?

^ I've read that they were included in the actual slide show but not seen in the broadcast because they cut away to Celine (gag) when they were shown.

I didn't think much of the King's Speech as a whole, but I'm really curious to see how it will be remembered.

I hate the In Memoriam bit. Who picks and chooses which celebs are worthy or inclusion? :( They should either do everyone or no one. Plus, the way the audience claps so much more for some people than for others is incredibly tacky. If you can't clap for everyone for the three or four minutes the segment airs, then don't clap for anyone. Honestly, it's like some of these people were raised by wild animals.

I know the whole ceremony is a great big popularity contest, but when it comes to the dead, it seems so disrespectful to blatantly snub people like that. Like Hollywood is run by a bunch of Mean Girls who can't resist rubbing it in one more time.
