3.1 Phillip Lim F/W 14.15 New York

There are some nice pieces here, and it's always impressive how he plays with colour endlessly; however, this collection overall is a letdown after last fall. That 2013 collection was more to my personal taste. But this is still a solid outing.

This season lacks authenticity to me, it looks like he's had his eyeballs on the fashion houses and what they're producing instead of doing his own thing.

Phillip has a wonderful eye for color and that's what I always love about his collections but overall its a rather wearable collection.

i think the complete opposite, he has totally left his original direction and i think he's trying to be too fashion forward when, clearly he's not good at it

I agree with Heatheranne, while I still love this collection, this feels like an open solicitation for an established fashion house. And why not? Philip Lim regularly has one of the best showings in NY season after season and I would love to see him helm for instance Fendi. :flower:

I actually think he's one of very few of the NY designers who even has his distinct style, and who can put out wonderful collections that don't make you think of half a dozen other similar collections. I also think he's constantly evolving. I admit that I can't really bring myself to get excited about this particular collection either, but I still think it has that beautiful mixture of nicely tailored trendy looks, gorgeous dresses, some quirky elements and that fun late 80's/early 90's vibe that I find to be essentially Phillip Lim. I don't see him moving away from his style here at all. But maybe that's just me, then. I really love that outfit in the first picture in post #3 and that long black gown towards the end. I think it's another pretty solid effort from him.

Love it. He always impresses me, he's fast becoming one of the designers I'm most excited about seeing every season.
He just has such a great aesthetic, there's always something really breathy and fresh about his designs, it doesn't ever feel stuffy or constricted at all, it has a great freedom, I like that. You can also see he has a bit of fun.
I especially liked the first look in post #4, with that splash of colour just in the belt and I also really enjoyed Tilda's look, I liked the contradiction between the soft eggshell blue (?) petticoat thing and vibrant shirt with the harshness of the black leather boots.
I always look at the details of his collections too and I think it's there that you can really appreciate his work.

Not such a strong collection this season, there's an Antonio Marras element about it with the floral patchwork.

One of the strongest collection I've seen so far.

erm…i dunno…i actually feel he's referencing a lot of past collections from the belgians with this. i see elements of vandevorst, branquinho, dries van noten and of course the oversized silhouettes are an echo of one martin margiela. not a bad thing of course…i do think he executed it rather nicely but again just been there, done that...

There are some very wearable clothes. I like it. Not as much than his previous but still i like.
