I love this era. Like in Pleasantville or Hollywood Land

Share pics and styles from this era. I seriously think I have been born at the wrong time

I know what you mean and I love 40s and 50s...

I feel like we'll be seeing more of these decades style in ads and stuff

like LV spring summer with Scarlett

It seems to be a really popular style right now, the kind of rockabilly esthetic.

I've been looking for pictures of 50's style swimsuits. I have an image of a one piece polka dot bathing suit with a slightly boy-short-ish bottom and a sweetheart top in my mind.

That said, the 40-50's style was great from what I have seen. Looking forward to seeing more.

I adore this kind of style.. there is a big rockabilly following still were i live .. you see random groups of people with the hair and assesories etc.. ive tried and failed many a time to do it hehe :flower:

love the bettie-paige pin-up look!! it's pretty popular in southern california. someone should nab some pics from the suicide girls or post christina aguilera's vargas homage from her latest video. im in love with this style!!!

That first picture is definitely a modern take on the era, 'cause her swimsuit would have been way too revealing for the '50s.

I like both 40's and 50's style, but all the photos here look just downright tacky. Those eras weren't about cheap materials and showing as much cleavage as you could. It was not appropriate at the time, like HBoogie said. Personally, the most alluring take on the late Forties/early Fifties is the New Look of Christian Dior.

^I agree WhiteLinen the New Look is just the epitome of elegance..very alluring, on the other hand, I also like Rockabilly style that is less constricting making it more easy to wear and often more 'fun'.

Ebay is a great place to find 40s-50s item.. I can spend hours perusing the listings..

 I think this is going to be my favorite thread! I can go on forever about 40's and 50's style. I love the era, I sooo understand what you guys mean by you were born at the wrong time.:bounce:

Im not sure if i could survive the 50's by doing laundry and staying home all day waiting for my husband with the perfect meal and the perfect hosue and the perfect kids, BUT, i could totally have my closet full with those gorgeous dresses and shoes and purses and dont forget the classy hair and make up, omg im having a fashion stroke!!!!

Ohhhhhh, my favorite yesteryears! Art Deco is at its height! I don't believe there is a more fashionable era in clothing and accessories, architecture and industrial design.... As much as I adore innovation and daring today, it is the 40s/50s that has my heart. The music, dancing, civility, the intimacy of the era, THE MOVIES, surviving WWII... it was an incredible twenty years that spawned the 60s with lightspeed, rocket propulsion.

As for fashion of the times, it gives a whole new meaning to 'duck and cover'!
