Let's talk about the craptastic Grammy awards or should I say MTV awards. Look at these gems for nominations.

Album Of The Year:
I Am…Sasha Fierce (Beyoncé)
The E.N.D. (the Black Eyed Peas)
The Fame (Lady Gaga)
Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King (Dave Matthews Band)
Fearless (Taylor Swift)
Record Of The Year:
"Halo" (Beyoncé)
"I Gotta Feeling" (the Black Eyed Peas)
"Use Somebody" (Kings Of Leon)
"Poker Face" (Lady Gaga)
"You Belong With Me" (Taylor Swift)

Well at least thank god for Dave Matthews Band, and Kings Of Leon, but seriously that is just sad!

Grammys= popularity contest. the big recors houses have every big influence of the noms. I wonder how much money was paid?

Taylor Swift to me will always be a karaole singer at best, no matter how much the media wants to pass her off as a musical genious, she still sucks.

Well 2009 wasn't exactly the greatest year in music.. let's hope next year is better!

exactly retailqueen. and let's be honest, when was the last time the grammy's was truly about music? imo, they're nothing but pure entertainment-and of course, record sales are a driving factor. egads, the brit awards in all its spectacle does at least have a little substance and award and feature real musical visionaries.

This was Lady GaGa's year & Beyonce got so many awards in 2009

I don't know anything about Taylor Swift, besides she is singer.

Kings of Leons have four nominations  but if they loose over to Taylor Swift silly song You Belong With Me(as long as that song its very catchy) or Halo, this world is Hopeless.

^I would hope they at least win Record of the Year. I was looking over the lyrics for the songs nominated and KOL's Use Somebody definitely has the best substance.

Yes, those four categories (record / album / song / new artist) were always about popularity and sales, but Grammy has more than 100 nominations for r&b, country, jazz, gospel, classic music, etc. All sorts of industry professionals generally unknown to the majority of listeners, but working behind all the music are awarded.
But still, I am very disappointed with nominations too, and as lizbabe already mentioned, it was VERY weak year for music industry. I try to imagine whom else would I nominate instead of those listed, and can't find any worthy replacement. And Black Eyed Peas weren't even THAT popular this year. I thought new album was awful...

Did Beyonce realy deserve TEN!!! nominations? Absolutely not. Ugh. She's so overrated. Hard to like her because of all this.

 this is a new low of lows. it feels more like mtv than the actual grammys.
remember when talent actually got nominated?:(

hope Beyonce does a sweep like she did with her 1st album!!! congratulations sasha fierce is a marvellous album
