80's Influence F/W 05.06

Is it just me, or are designers subtly using some elements of 80's fashion-eg. polka dots, big bows,big collars, trench coats, patterned/brightly coloured (velvet) jackets, high,brightly coloured boots, skinny leather neck ties, leather pencil skirts- (I remember my mum wearing those and looking fantastic, very rock and roll with a serious edge) , blouses with puffed sleaves, fur collars, skinny jeans ( Mark Renton anyone?), off shoulder tops/dresses?
I know that for most people, the 80's were the worst decade fashion wise, but I'm sure there were some worth recycling styles...

Your right ank9, the 80's are (or have been) making a slight comeback. It's no wonder then that the new york times decided to look back on it:

I'd say it's both, yet another good example of fashion's love affair with history. For some years, the motto has been recycle everything attention worthy from the past, but now, all those influences are really visible. That's why I've been rumaging through my mum's closet for the past two days

80's influence is nothing new in fashion , it has been going on for a few years, I think its starting to die down now actually.

I've said this before, but I think we've moved to the later, darker and more subtle 80's instead of the colourful, fun earlier 80's. I don't think it's dying yet.

Nice observation! Although I must say, that I would classify some of the posted pics here more as being 60's then being 80's...
