she's a brasileira, thats what makes her so special hehe :P we brasileiras are the envy of the world we have a little bit of everything  :ninja: :woot: don't mind me just being a bit nationalistic. the fotos are lovely! but i don't get the exotic or sensual label but i never get it maybe because i am from brasil who knows. i think americans and french people are exotic  really i do.

I love your post!

I've read so much about Adriana and it's rarely mentioned while people call her beautiful, that it's her multi-ethnic Bahian roots that contribute to her beautiful characteristics that everyone admires so much. :p

Finally, people who understand what I'm talking about.:p I've mentioned this on other boards and people act like it's ridiculous.

Out of all the Brazilian girls, i think Adriana is the most mixed. I've read she has French, Portuguese, Carribean(that probably means African), Japanese and maybe Native Indian blood in her.

This is to you any everyone:

That's the standard bio I see everywhere, but when I first saw Adriana I knew she was prtially African. Then she herself confirmed it (and I LOVE her for it b/c so many deny that part of themselves) saying on Fashion TV that she is African, Indian and Swiss.

Bahia in Brazil is where a lot of African slaves were brought long ago. Adriana said that in her family you see people with varied tones, hair textures and eye colors. She says that she got her eyes from her grandparents. By the way watch "The Follow." Her hair is straightened in most of these pics. It's naturally wavy.

In her earlier pics (as w/J-Lo) you could clearly see a more ethnic look. They market her more Eurocentric look more often and that's fine by me--whatever sells.

I dont think you have a little bit of everything, no offence, but I only see dark skinned dark haired spanish looking girls coming out of Brasil. Theres no blondes, no red heads, no anglosaxons, no asians etc etc! although they are beautiful women they represent that of what people perceieve as "brazillian" tanned, brown hair eyes etc etc.

Isn't Giselle and another model with blonde hair from Brazil???

That's what made Adriana even more beautiful to me. The simple fact that she embraced all of her heritage. It was obvious to me that she had African and native ancestry, but when her acknowledgement of it was another thing.
Angelina Jolie also seems to have mixed heritage, but I've never heard either way.

well giselle im pretty sure dyed her hair. that notwithstanding however, the poster obviously has never been to brazil. yes i think many of the MODELS to come from brazil have a "spanish" look about them (i'm not even going to get into the inaccuracies of THAT statement...anyone with any knowledge of the caribbean and latin america knows that latinas ALSO have various looks) but that doesnt mean there arent black brazilians or red headed brazilians (uhh cintia dicker ppl?). what the industry "extracts" from brazil tends to be lighter skinned people (hey, its what sells in the industry, i understand that). that doesnt mean that diverse looking people of brazil dont exist tho. i believe a good 30% (at least?) is of african descent sooooo :innocent:

EDIT: btw, good to see ya here ALima :D

I saw this pic on the 'Most Beautiful Eyes thread' and I noticed that Adri's hair looks different. Does anyone know if her hair is naturally straight, or does it have more of the texture of African-Americans' hair? I have seen her both ways and I just didn't know if they straightened it for her, or if they crimped it to get it to look like it does in this pic. I know her background is a mixture of many ethnicities.

I have read *I do not have PROOF of this statement* that both of her parents are black mixtures and that her hair is flat-iron straightened.

In the movie "The Follow," you can see her naturally wavy texture after she washes her hair and does not blow dry nor straighten it.

Given her African and Indian background (which is what a LOT of African-Americans who classify as "black" are also) plus her white background, her hair is probably more like those who classify as "biracial"...Alicia Keys or Halle Berry I'd assume.

Hey OriginalSin. Good to be here. I love this forum b/c more people respond. I've been to a lot of forums that are virtually dead.

She denies ever dating him but she did. They were also believed to be engaged but again she denied it.

Most assume that them dating was a publicity stunt to up her status. It seems to have worked because her fame started to skyrocket around that time.

Really? Wow, that's new to me. Her link to Lenny is how I came to know of her. I think they'd make the hottest couple!

i happen to really love a lot of her candids, when she doesnt have to put on that sexkitten/sexpot mask. if u noticed, one of my favorite pics is actually one where she's got her face all scrunched up and doesnt particularly look "fabulous" but to me it's an adorable pic and it's like (for me at least) oh look, she isnt always playing a sex pot. she can look like a normal person, etc etc.

Me too! Her real personality seems to emerge in her candids--not to mention her natural beauty. From her candids alone, she seems like someone who'd be a cool person to hang out with.

^Yeah I know those forums are a drag! *LOL*

Adriana is a perfect example of a Brazilian...usually when someone is a native of Brazil they are a mixture of many other ethnicities, much as we (speaking for myself and my continental companions on this board!) call ourselves 'Americans'...we are a result of our grandparents and great-grandparents' blood all mixing together...we Americans are 'mutts'! (hehe) and it is fun to trace our ancestry because it gives every one of us a unique identity. Usually Brazilian's last names sound like they are from another country (i.e. Bundchen sounds German, Trentini sounds Italian;Lima is Spanish or Portugese) . After all, North and South America are the 'new' worlds...the people are extractions of different parts of the 'old' world's genes!

it's very interesting, actually! I think there should be a thread about model ethnicites!

^I agree. She has a beautiful face, although at times she crosses the line between "sexy" and "skanky". Even so, I don't think she goes so far as to warrant the description of "vulgar", as some have described Adriana.

When she does high fashion editorials, or when you see her candid photos, you can't help but be taken aback by her beauty. I like the advertisements that she has done for GUESS? and Armani; they show her versatality and a side of her away from all the vampiness.

Here is a pic of her for Iguatemi I really like:

Exactly!! Her varied looks make her unique and worthy of success and admiration.
