Adriana Lima

I would love to see her in a Givenchy perfume add. I love Givenchy perfumes and Adriana as well.

i can't believe a VS Angel is doing actual runway shows... i do wonder if it's a one-time thing or if she's keen on getting regular runway jobs again.

Well, she's stated before that she would love to do runway again. I think this is just the beginning of that. She recently changed agencies and they seem to be getting her the work that she deserves. Though, I have a feeling that everything will be put on hold for a couple of months.

Adriana Reloaded

Sex is a skill - or at the very least it can be. With the right application of bronzer, a push up bra and coyness anyone can be “sexy”. That is the hidden message behind Victoria’s Secret. The fruity body lotion and cotton panties don’t speak for themselves - they’re pushed into our lives via a calculated marketing gimmick that has elevated the brand from catalog mainstay to billion dollar industry. With its lineup of attractive, affable Angels the company strives to make the point even clearer. While every one of their girls is a knockout in her own right they’re all helped by a little bit of VS magic.

Maybe that is why Adriana Lima has been the perfect ambassador for the brand. Follow her career trajectory and you’ll find she didn’t start out as “sexy” at least not in the uber accessible, highly commercial sense. Those with an especially keen memory may recall Adriana sporting a buzz cut and black liner during her early years when her look was decidedly editorial in its allure. Back in ‘97 when she was paired alongside atypical beauties like Karen Elson as she posed for Steven Meisel, Lima was a part of a very different crowd. Hers was an edgy and unconventional beauty that matured into something accessible. While she may not have straddled the line between the artistic and the commercial as well as some of her peers (well played GIsele) every so often she’s made her presence felt via interesting work.

Perhaps then the collective industry eyebrow waggle when Lima resurfaced on the Givenchy runway and between the pages of Love Magazine is a bit uncalled for. As the boundaries break and the differences between editorial and commercial girls become more tenuous we’re liable to see many more return to their high fashion roots. Victoria’s Secret (and its bikini clad crony Sports Illustrated) may raise a girl’s profile but it’s a well timed turn on a selective catwalk that keeps it pristine.

I always saw her as perfect commercial model meaning that she presents VS very good but I do not like her at all while doing other runway shows.
I think that she should stick with VS, she is not like "old" supermodels (Cindy, Christy, Naomi) which perfectly fitted in both commercials and runway shows.

I disagree - I think she fitted in perfect in HF shows in the past (1999/2000 etc era), and she still does - LOVED seeing her at Givenchy! :flower:

Edit: Hee the models.com article used my scan! :D

Totally disagree. Adriana is as high-profile as she is BECAUSE of her high-fashion roots. It's nice to see that she still has that edge.

Adriana didn't come from just commercial background...she had quite the high fashion career, and was a favorite among designers. She was around and walking on runways and opening runways around the same time Gisele was and still managed to get attention from designers. She was a favorite among several HF photographers and manage to score many HF editorials and campaigns. She even did a versace campaign in 2004, and was their only model besides Hana to present the HC collection. She's walked/did campaigns/etc for the likes of Anna Sui, Callaghan, Chrisitan Lacroix, Christian Dior, Christina Perrin, Cynthia Rowley, Emanuel Ungaro, Emporio Armani, Fause Haten, Fendi, Guy Laroche, Istvan francer, John Galliano, Leonard, Marithé & Francois Girbaud, Mark Eisen, Philosophy, Pucci, Ralph lauren (several times), Randolph Duke, Richard Tyler, Searle, Valentino, Vera Wang (several times), Versace. There are many more but thats just a few. She did her fair bit of work on the runway. Again the problem was she was picked up by vs in 1998 and then signed in early 2000. So she didn't have much time to establish much of a runway career, but considering she was only really working runway big time for 3 years I'd say she did pretty damn good. (This isn't counting more of her runways and SPFW)

I agree with Viva, I don't believe Adriana will be doing much in the next few months as much as some want to believe. Adriana's hands around her tummy the other night and the "bump" though her pants that you could see front on is unmistakable, and I think it's going to become more and more obvious as time goes on. For some reason it's being forbidden to be spoke about, although it's never been like this for other models...Oi. (It's like that everywhere..we have our reasons at AFL because we know Adriana browses and we don't think she'd be wanting to announce anything if she kept seen people suspecting it or wishing she wasn't...I know I wouldn't want to announce it if i seen that) there are some places online that people so desperately don't want her to be they are actually saying "She's around smoke in her LOVE editorial" hinting at that...it's like uh that was shot how long ago. I know personally if I seen the likes of that kind of people online (because she is an internet person) no wonder she doesn't or wouldn't want to say anything. I'm not trying to convience anyone at all, draw your own conclusion but don't grasp at straws either. But anyway, yes I hope we see more of her in paris soon.

Finished another couple of scans - yay for some older VS catalog covers in HQ!

Scans by me, all are a minimum of 2,000 pixels in size. Feel free to use or repost anywhere, just please don't remove the tag! :)

CoutureChic, you're constantly bring up her 'pregnancy' in every post (whether she is hasn't been confirmed but her rep did issue a statement saying she wasn't, so that's that), this board is about her modeling. The Rumor Has It thread would be more appropriate to discuss that :flower:

^ Karma

Thanks nothingless for the scans :flower:. I absolutely love that third cover.

agree that it would be better to see her in something other than black from head to toe, though. they really couldn't put her in a dress or something?

I'm glad that they didn't have her in a dress. It's good to see her in a different look (besides the normal VS trashy thing) once in a while and she looked really beautiful in the outfit anyways.

agree. this is sth different from what we are used to see her in. i am glad she opted for sth more high-fashion. she looked great and her walk was by far one of the best..

where can we see the show? I searched youtube but there was only one video with still photos. I want to see her in action!
