This is far too beautiful for mere words...! :crush:

The prints and colors are all so vibrantly feminine. So many esoteric yet wearable pieces in the lot.

Thanks so much for posting this, Adorefaith.

Maybe its the effect of the stark white background and the equally pale skin of the model but WOW, this a great collection!

This is such a pretty collection... the model is very beautiful, too. I like the contrast of the pale with red.

for those interested, the model is alice burdeau..she won australia's next top model this year..

^ Oi, thanks for the spoilers :P

Anyway, I think it's very nice, although the first one looks a bit like a bath towel.

oh goodness me..sorry..is it still airing in NZ?..i thought she won ages ago..

:ermm:.....

sorry again ..

thanks for posting this adorefaith.

some of his cutting techniques are fascinating and quite innovative...
which often go unnoticed until you actually handle the garments.

good to see he is going from strength to strength.

i bought an akira dress for my formal recently- his clothes are even more gorgeous in real life. Theres something very poetic about akira; by far my favourite Aussie designer!!

bearbrick- i think that today there are so many designers who don't have much innovation in technique; Australian designers particularly due to the lack of master cutting and construction techniques are especially prone to this.

However designers like Erin Fetherston, Isabel Marant... have achieved success with quite commercial but appealing clothing.

So to me, Paris should ideally contain innovative and thoughtful designers- but this is sadly not the reality when we have "designers" like the house of holland putting out a runway show.

Back to Akira however; i do believe he is a standout for Aussie designers- his aesthetic is thoughtful and construction if you look at it carefully is subtle and well crafted. If you look at his other collections you will see that his technique has always been very good.

very beautiful for the most part. in the past he has been a bit hit and miss but this is gorgeous. one of the best australian designers for sure.

oh and the model is lovely too. everytime i see a redhead i think of australia.

agreed ...i mean look at Tsubi and their silly antics which didnt get them anywhere......unless AK has real reason to be in paris ..... it must be said it is a hell of a lot of pressure to be in paris .....2x a year in addition to sydney......is it worth the while ??..if it is ....ok fine but otherwise its a bit of a waste of resources....ditto collete dinnigan.....

he is a good designer with a concientious work and quality ethic detailled and very careful.........maybe too careful ???.......too precious ??......

its a refreshing change from the mostly rough and tumble rest of oZ desigers.:innocent:

The dresses are so pretty. I saved a lot of these pictures.
