From wikipedia:

Watson's career began when he emigrated to the USA in the early 1970s to set up studios in Los Angeles and New York. Despite being blind in one eye, his success with fashion and popular culture magazines such as Vogue, Rolling Stone, The Face, VIBE and Newsweek is well documented and his work appears on covers of these major magazines throughout the world on a daily basis.[citation needed] He acted as photographer at the wedding of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson[citation needed] and has been involved in numerous advertising campaigns for leading cosmetics and clothing companies such as Gap, Levi's, Revlon and Chanel.[citation needed] He also created his own work during his travels around the world from Marrakech to Las Vegas
Watson has published books of his photography, Cyclops (1995) and Maroc (1998). His work was recognised through an honorary http://alternativestovalium.blogspot.com/2007/04/singular-vision-of-albert-watson.htmldegree from the University of Dundee in 1995[citation needed] and his induction into the Scottish Fashion Awards Hall of Fame in 2006. His first exhibition, Frozen, was subsequently staged in the City Art Centre of Edinburgh in 2006.

Vogue.co.uk reports on a new book and exhibition:

VOGUE photographer Albert Watson will share his career secrets at a talk held at the V&A on November 23. Watson is launching his new book Unified Fashion Objectives, or UFO - a retrospective look at four decades of his work.

"One day I was going through a lot of my old files, prints and negatives, and it hit me: the amount of material was staggering, and I needed to put them all down in UFO as a record almost of some of my favourite fashion and celebrity shots from the past 40 years," Watson tells us. "I wanted to share the photographs with the public because many of them hadn't been seen in decades, and some never before."

Photographs from the book, which include shots of Kate Moss and Scarlett Johansson, can soon be seen a new exhibition entitled Vintage Watson, opening on November 26 at the Hamiltons Gallery in London. The showcase will display vintage prints and original polaroids.

"My most memorable moment as a photographer shooting fashion was the first time I went to Paris to do the Haute Couture shows with Polly Mellen for American Vogue in 1976," he says. "I had dreamed of doing that for years. It was the pinnacle of my career to that point, and to be there with the fabulous Polly Mellen made it even more special."

What great news - I will be sure to get myself a copy of that one. I heard years ago that he had some unpublished work which included Gia. Most of the stuff he did is great, but the way he captured Gia is unbelievable.
