There are few certainties in life but a contender is the bohemian free-spirit aesthetic, typically delivered via variations on goddess maxidresses, one expects from an Alberta Ferretti collection. She delivered several such looks for resort in Matisse-inspired patchwork prints — but there were some nice surprises, too.

Ferretti broke up the maxidress format, showing gauzy printed skirts over cropped pants for a well-traveled exotic look. In fact, the pants, both wide and cropped, were a standout of the collection, which also included a counterpoint to all the prints with a solid safari khaki and black range that reflected the season’s wanderlust in a more sober way.
