Not bad at all. Never understood why all of the NYC stores decided to drop him, AT ONCE! He seems to be the less over-sexed and more elegant than most italian designers.

I agree, this collection is not bad at all! simple and elegant, some really cute pieces.

some of my favorite (other than the ones Lena posted :flower: )

I never understood why he's so underexposed editorially and under-represented commercially. He's been churning out some genuinely good clothes for a few years now, especially with his menswear line. I would buy most of his designs in a heartbeat - if only I had a way to physically get them.

He's another one of the hugely underrated designers out there. And at the same time we see labels like Roberto Cavalli take off with his incredibly vulgar designs.

I guess sex really does sell. :ninja:

excuses but it's not a matter of sex-selling..

its a matter of 'adverts-pay-back'
magazines promote 'clients' in their editorial pages
and Alessandro has just recently started with adv. campaigns ..
you'll find them mainly in Italian magazines at the moment.
(vogue italia , flair etc)

his work is quite nice
(he has also done tones of 'sexy' collections in the past)

of course you're right about the advertising...he does advertise more in european publications...but zac posen doesn't advertise, neither does narciso (and he gets covers)...proenza schouler is another...i guess the editors have their relationships...it's all politic anyway...

but cavalli is oversexed and overhyped and... is selling very well...they don't get tons of editorial coverage...they even have to compensate by having celebs wear their stuff which then gets published...and they advertise heavily...so there you go...

the politics of dancing... :flower:

and heavy advertising customer to most publications

but yes, i can see what you mean by NR and PS..
hype is a success factor

maybe i need to get some hype going about me so i can have some of that success...

SOFTGREY IS THE BEST STYLIST IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!! SHE ROCKS!!! SHE IS SO TALENTED!!! SHE IS AMAZING!!! IF YOU GUYS DON'T LIKE WHAT SHE DOES, YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND AND YOU HAVE NO TASTE!!!!

Hope this helps, although I probably don't have much weight in the fashion world!!! :flower:

  ---omg...too funny...

that was so great...you rock :punk:

Softgrey....it's all about the hype
In the art/design world....I don't know what counts more anymore...the talent or the hype.

even though i accept the 'power of hype' i cant escape thinking that somehow it is also becoming a thing of the past.

after all people are getting a bit bored and need -demand- more substance.
