Alexa Chung

^ Agree ^_^

I also don't understand all the comments about her column being about "nothing". That's pretty much the the basis for any humor column...

Love her clothes, but her column really is so dull. It starts out rubbish and goes absolutely nowhere. It's structured badly and doesn't leave you with anything to think about, apart from how empty and spoilt she really is.
She has absolutely nothing interesting to say at all. She's previously stated how she has no clue about politics or the economy (after saying that she splashed out on a £1,500 Chanel bag which would hopefully encourage others to spend and 'get the economy back on track' - is she a completely ignorant idiot?!) - which you would think a well-read 25 year old would have some opinions on.
Some people on this thread have said she should stick to writing about music and fashion. I half agree with this. She should stick to what she does best and write about fashion. She knows nothing about music - if she says she only knows about four Sonic Youth songs in her article, she probably hasn't even given them a proper listen, or maybe not even heard them all and only said this to put herself on a higher plane than those 'Urban Outfitters Ramone shirt wearing losers' (I'm paraphrasing here.).

Wow. Sorry about the rant. I love love love her clothes and wish I had her wardrobe, but the things that have been coming out her mouth lately have annoyed me.

Thank you for this. While her comment on the economy was her attempt at wit, it did not pan out. It just seemed as though she was trying to mask her unawareness with a satirical comment.

She admits to being ignorant. Well, then become informed. Instead of going out to Bungalow 8 one night, stay in and read the damn newspaper that's handing you a check every week.

I did not even read this week's article because I am not a masochist. I will probably cease to read her column in the future. I will, however, still admire her sense of style and her collection of shoes.

^^ I like her columns too. She doesn't claim to be a 'typical columnist' and she isn't.

I like that she writes what she thinks, and what we're all thinking, but are too afraid to admit out of fear of appearing 'stupid' or 'spoilt' or 'ignorant'.

Her column isn't meant to be taken seriously anyway. It's a free-spirited sort of procrastination piece.

Anyways - her style is what matters!

I hope to see her on her Australia visit! For those who have met her - is she approachable? I want to ask her for a photo but I don't want to get rejected! :innocent:

I think she's approachable. However, I would avoid her when she's smooching with Alex. I think that would be impolite to disturb them.
But yeah, if you see her give it a try!

Class of 2008

From the formula one champ to the celebrity divorce lawyer and the Pentagon hacker, these are 25 of the Brits who intrigued, inspired and entertained us this year.

Alexa Chung

By rights, she should be intolerable. A pretty TV presenter who was once best known for fronting the embarrassingly bad music show Popworld after its original and much loved presenters had left. She hangs out with the Uberbrats (les filles Geldof and Jagger) and she has an unfortunate penchant for telling the world how much she loves her Arctic Monkey boyfriend.

And yet Chung, 25, is an interesting lesson that one should never underestimate a patently ambitious young thing, even if she does hang out with Peaches Geldof. Her style, for a start, is telling: whereas her friends favour the any-length-as-long-as-it's-micro-mini approach to dressing, Chung goes for a lower-key, cooler approach. Her fondness for penny loafers (as opposed to Peaches' ballet pumps or Pixie's towering ankle boots) and high-waisted vintage-style dresses shows she wisely knows that going for the obvious doesn't get results. Most surprisingly of all, she turned out to be funny. Once she got out from under the Popworld yoke and was made a presenter in her own right on T4, Channel 4's youth weekend strand, she turned out to be witty and confident and more than able to hold her own against her dominating fellow presenters, Steve Jones and Miquita Oliver. A fashion icon with a personality - you don't get one of those every year.

this was the APC one i meant and i only remember seeing her with it once cause she normally has the one which has stripes all over i think

They REALLY mocked the Geldofs in this article. ^_^
I love Hadley Freeman

Could this be the end for Alex Turner and Alexa Chung?

The couple have been inseparable since they first locked lips in 2007. But they face a difficult future as TV presenter Alexa, 25, moves to the States for the dream job of fronting her own show in LA.

Although it is breaking her heart to leave her Arctic Monkey, 22, pals say she doesn't feel she can turn it down.

But the couple are looking forward to spending some time together now and are jetting off to holiday in Australia and New Zealand. A friend said: "It'll be a big wrench. They're used to spending all their time together. Both want to make it work, but long-distance relationships are never easy."

Still, you know what they say about absence...

LA? I thought it was New York...

i saw her today! she was minus alex, which was a real blow, but she was looking fabulous, so that's a plus. she was wearing this white smock dress, mini, i think she even had denim cut-offs underneath but i was on a bus and didn't get enough of an eyeful to see haha, the brown gladiators, a big gold necklace and the chanel bag. she had those big sunglasses on too, the ones that look like bug eyes haha..

wish i could have been on the road and gone up to her! would have loved to hear her interpretation of the 'famous' sydney fireworks haha. overrated i think is the general consensus. still, alex doesn't play BDO till 23 jan, so there's plenty more time for alexa sightings, right?

it's not thaat drively! i still think she's cute and it is a bit 'and then this, and then that happened' lala but i've read worse!

Hey everyone,
i'm new on TFS but have been reading this thread avidly without being able to comment FOREVER, super excited to finally be able to have my say...

Love Alexa, her style that makes her so cool!

LOL @ The Mirror.
Hello Liberty_Belle, welcome! :)
And peachescream, that's so cool that you saw her! Yeah, Arctics are playing their first gigs end of January, but I think Alexa would need to travel back earlier... I mean, she's still got a job to do. I hope.

is she gonna be back on freshly squeezed soon...or has that show ended because of big brother? :( that is really cool that you saw her peachescream!

Welcom to tFS LibertyBelle :flower:

Their first gig is on January 13th in Wellington, New Zealand but Alexa mentioned a "two-week-holiday sized suitcase" in her column so she mustn't be sticking around for that long.

peachescream, so funny that you spotted her from the bus  Thanks for sharing :flower:
