mirrorTv presenter Alexa Chung has set up her own sweatshop for a Channel 4 "frockumentary" into the world of High Street fashion.
The ex-model girlfriend of Arctic Monkey Alex Turner is investigating how workers in Asian factories earn just 15p an hour making clothes for well-known labels in the UK.
In the programme, provisionally called Dress For Less, her factory is set up in London's Covent Garden.
But conditions are based on evidence obtained about those in the Far East.
A staff of 15 volunteers, all fans of budget gear, are working 60 hours each over five days for the show to be aired this year.
Alexa, 24, said: "I love affordable fashion but I'm questioning the real price of £2 T-shirts and £8 dresses.
"I wanted to experience the reality of conditions in some of the Asian factories that supply our retailers - and it's an eye-opener."
If Arctics frontman Alex Turner ever gets up to any Monkey business, he could be in for a right old rollocking off his girlfriend - 'cos we reckon Alexa Chung is a bit of a control freak...
We can reveal that 24-year-old Alexa, who is currently busy modelling top brands and presenting new TV shows, likes to keep her hectic life in order by turning to - wait for it - self-help books.
Alexa's little secret was revealed after some books she had ordered from online shop Amazon were delivered to the wrong house.
One of her London neighbours opened the package and was surprised to discover such intriguingly-titled tomes as Control Your Inner Anger and Who Moved My Cheese? The latter is apparently a motivational book to help you deal with change in your life.
No wonder Alexa was looking rather red-faced and mortified when she went round to collect them.
Our source tells us: "Her neighbour had opened the package by mistake, so Alexa was embarrassed to discover they had seen all these self-help guides.
"She's got so much on at the moment, she just needed a bit of help. Alexa has been catapulted into the limelight recently. Even though she's glad she's doing so well, I think she's finding everything a bit full-on.
"Alexa has been burning the candle at both ends, working hard and also going out in London with Alex and seeing her mates.
She's trying to juggle modelling and presenting and enjoy her relationship.
"Hopefully the books will help her figure out how to deal with her hectic lifestyle."
It's true that the poor girl's diary is pretty jam-packed. In January, Alexa became one of the four main anchor presenters on T4 and also hosted C4's Vanity Lair - a 10- week reality show exploring what being beautiful means.
She will also be co-hosting BBC3's hip new youth show The Wall, with Rhys Thomas - a live show featuring comedy, sketches, chat and music performances.
And she is to present Dress For Less, a documentary for Channel 4 investigating ethical fashion. For the programme, Alexa sets up a sweat-shop in Covent Garden. Not only that but she has just been unveiled as the face of Antipodium's Spring/Summer 2008 collection.
And as if all that wasn't enough, Alexa recently designed a range of jewellery for the Fair Trade organisation Made Boutique, as well as hosting the Elle Style Awards.
Phew! We feel exhausted and dizzy just thinking about it all. Pass us one of those self-help books, love..
