Alexa Chung

to the states?
i like the outfit, well like it, not loving it, but she is all tanned and her hair seems long, and next thing you'll know she'll have blue contacts and freakishly white teeth and ofcourse bleached hair.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

i highly doubt that will ever happen! our beloved alexa has always been original in taste and fashion. :flower:

and let's not brush the U.S. with such a broad stroke -- not everyone here is tanned, blue-eyed, with freakish white teeth.

Are we really blaming the u.s. for her gradual change in style? Really? Alexa has tanned before, long way before she ever decided to move to new york.

This is also the first time I've ever read someone complain about having white teeth. I guess butter popcorn yellow teeth is the way to go!

i like her better pale n with short hair. BUT she looks younger with long hair n with the tan she looks healthier too cuz shes lookin a bit well,,,we cant talk about it but. yeh,. so with long hair and tan she looks younger and fresh.so it's cool i guess

lol. i was being over dramatic!!!! i don't blame the states as a country, but she is different in london and in paris and in LA. guess, more or less, we all are....
and as for teeth,hair... well, the pic i had in mind was this:

does this look natural?????

i think the only thing that's different about alexa is the tan and it makes her look healthy instead of sickly (compared to last summer), so that's good in my book.

I actually dislike the uber-white, cap all teeth, make sure they're perfectly straight trend; it's like a bunch of stars suddenly have the same smile, in a sense. It's like the botox/surgery trend.

I don't think it's possible to "blame the U.S.A." (like in "South Park" they blamed Canada, lol), but I do think Hollywood has something to do with it. Look at French actesses, like Charlotte Gainsbourgh or Juliet Binoche, or Vanessa Paradis - it seems to me they're all ageing quite naturally, don't have perfectly white, straight teeth, frozen expressions etc.

I'd hate to see that sort of "homogenizing" happen to Alexa; but personally I don't see signs of it yet. I think she's still her quirky self, mixing things up, wearing her hair in her eyes and dried naturally, her swoop of liquid liner, etc. Maybe she has access to more designer clothes now (seems to me she used to wear more vintage) but she still goes for looks that aren't typical, and mixes high and low, masculine and feminine.

At least, imo. Sorry for the long post. Just think it's an interesting side-bar. :flower:

Not Plain Jane - im with you. that was my point

as for teeth, if you visit willa holland's thread you will see that someone said her teeth are yellowish, and they are perfect, just not hollywood polished. and that is why the teeth question was raised!

I thought that was maybe a reference to peaches geldofs recent change since moving too the u.s she has whitened her teeth and is extrememly 'bronze' now....not that it's a bad thing before anyone attacks me.

HAHHAHA i don´t understand why people are talking about her tan... HELLOOOO it is summer. and her hair looks better when it is longer.

Yes! I agree with everything you said. I don't see the big deal with her getting a tan and such. As you're exposed to more things style changes, and it tends to eb for the better (at least in all my previous experiences). I still see her uniqueness.

She looks great with the tan, i think it makes her eyes look greener...to me it looks like she spent a couple of days at the beach, not a big deal.

I am absolutely loving the recent pics... I think she looks more herself with a tan, she does have naturally olive-ish skin anyway.

Wow, how fast is her hair growing though please? I started growing mine from the same length at around the same time she did, and so I've been measuring... mine is still lingering around my collarbones somewhere! I'd love to know her secrets on keeping it looking so healthy, especially with the blonde highlights.

I really love the satin shirt, I think the shiny texture clashes in an ace way with the cut off shorts :)

She looks so beautiful in the first photo of #1696! She's got a healthy glow to her skin. And her nails are awesome with the hearts, I'm loving that.

It's actually a great article, in my opinion. Sally really hits the nail on the head about why we love Alexa. There's not much "interview" with Alexa (hardly any at all, actually), but more discourse about the british it-girl in general. I really liked it.

Does anybody have any idea how we Brits are going to get hold of the Alexa for Madewell collection? It doesn't seem like Madewell ship to the UK... I NEED that collection, there's some pieces there I've been looking for for years!!
