Alexa Chung

L'Officiel - what beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing :flower:

And she looks gorgeous at the Mulberry party - love that peach silk blouse on her!!

I'd have to say that the Vogue article was the first article that I've read that has definitely put Alexa in good light, she doesn't come off bad as she usually does in other interviews, though I can't say it helped her friend Grimmshaw look any less douche-y. "Its rubbish...it's death." Being that it's an article and words can be misconstrued, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he was referring to Alexa leaving for NYC being a bummer and not "NYC is rubbish/death."

That Vogue article is way way too late. She was THE fashion icon from late 2007 till earlier this year (at the latest), propped up by brand endorsements, but she's just-another-model-type-celebrity now! She WAS brilliant but she's far too commodified now. Besides, Vogue employs her! Personally I'm hoping for an Alexa comeback at Fashion week in September. Fingers crossed!

It's actually a great article, in my opinion. Sally really hits the nail on the head about why we love Alexa. There's not much "interview" with Alexa (hardly any at all, actually), but more discourse about the british it-girl in general. I really liked it.

Yes, I liked the article, though I'd've liked to see more "new" pictures of Alexa.

There are TWO images of the brilliant Stella Tennant in this issue of USA Vogue (one in the Balenciaga campaign and one at Miranda Brooks' wedding); she looks divine in both, of course.

Also a brilliant piece on Lady Fraser and Pinter, not to mention Patti Hansen. There's a big editorial on Gwyneth too, of course, since she graces the cover.

All in all, one of the better issues of American Vogue I've seen in a while, at least in the reading department. The editorials are alright - one fabulous one featuring the long-silver-haired Kristen Mcmenamy! :flower:

i love the vogue article i wonder if the burberry coat is the dip dye one. i loved that!! haha.

Does anybody have any idea how we Brits are going to get hold of the Alexa for Madewell collection? It doesn't seem like Madewell ship to the UK... I NEED that collection, there's some pieces there I've been looking for for years!!

there are a few american sites that stock madewell that ship too the uk, someone mentioned earlier on in this thread, shopbop.com is one of them.

I really can't wait for the collection to be out. I just hope they are not unreasonably priced!

^ They are. Madewell (along with J Crew) is waaaay overpriced for what it is. Expect dresses to be in the mid - $100 range, and t-shirts to be over $50. Too bad because they have adorable clothes. Is she making shoes and accessories for them or just clothing?

The L'official pictures are fantastic, really capture her unique prettiness, love the shot in the peacoat and sunnies:flower:

Can't speak too much to the Madewell line, as I have only a few pieces (love my little fringe cross-body bag), but i have been ordering J-Crew for years and I find the quality to be great, matching of the price range. I guess the t-shirts may be a bit over-priced, but their denim, suiting, shirts and novelty pieces are fairly priced and very good quality. IMO. :flower:

Can't wait to see Alexa's Madewell line again - hope I can get a piece or two.

^ Yeah you're right about J. Crew...I have my trusty blazer that I know will last me forever! So the price of the denim, suiting, and blouses, I understand. But the t-shirts and tanks, sundresses, and things like that don't need to be so overpriced.

I never found the quality of J.Crew clothes to be particularly great. My clothes always get holes in them. I still buy from the store though, most of their items are too cute to pass up.

You should write Net-a-Porter.com and suggest they get carry her collection with Madewell. They already have a relationship with J.Crew(Madewell under this company) and with the british connection sounds like a perfect collection for them to carry.

Good point about net-a-porter & Alexa for Madewell. I love net-a-porter!

C.Birdseye - I have never got holes in my J-Crew clothes! I have been ordering from then since about 2004. However, I have noticed some pilling on the sweaters, which I wasn't thrilled about - especially the cashmere ones. But having said that about the pilling, I ordered an Acne T-shirt this spring and it pilled after two washes! (hanging it dry). Meanwhile, my MCQ t-shirt is great. Just depends I guess. Sometimes quality is hit and miss depending on which factory the company uses. Having worked in the industry in the past, I can say that with some certainty.

her style has changed so much since she got super popular and it-girl. i remember 3 years ago i used to see photos of her when she still presented that music show on..channel 4 i think? she used to dress soooo hipster-ish, a bit twee, much like her friend tennessee. now she's trying to be a little classier and more grown up. i heard she has a stylist though. i've also heard from friends who've seen her in real life that she's pretty looking in a boring way!

i think she's quite pretty and always admired her style but i can't help but be a bit bored of her looks and how her being a 'style icon' is all she can fall back on, since her MTV show flopped and before that she hadn't really done anything that striking talent wise. i sound so horrible haha but that's just how i feel!

I think Alexa is still a style icon, because she does NOT dress like MOST famous celebrities. I'm even a bit surprised she's still remained herself even though she lives in the USA where the pressure on looking all glam and polished is much bigger than in the UK.
