Does anybody have the Alexa Chung for Madewell Lydia coat? I think I want to buy it but I would like to hear from someone who has it/who has tried it on if they think it's worth the price, if it'd make a sufficient winter coat, how it fits, etc.

Alexa Chung, model, muse, TV presenter and rock WAG, has enjoyed a truly dizzying ascent. Raised in the village of Privett in Hampshire, she became a model after her A levels, started presenting Channel 4's Popworld in 2006 and began dating Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys in 2007. Her eccentric aesthetic, all boyish brogues and endless legs, has earned her a legion of high-profile fashion fans. Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld adores her (she recently DJed at a dinner in honour of him in New York and is a fixture on the Chanel front row) and Mulberry designed a bag especially for her after she was spotted sporting a men's Mulberry satchel (the Alexa costs from £695 and over 500 are made a week).

For the past year she and Turner have been the toast of New York, although they have just returned to Shoreditch to cut back on the endless transatlantic travel. 'Alex and I do very different jobs that are time-consuming and involve travelling, but it is all I've ever known,' she explains.

There has been one blip in this otherwise charmed life: the premature demise of her MTV chat show It's on with Alexa Chung, which only ran from April to December 2009 (the Americans never did quite get Alexa's brand of British irreverence), but there are new projects in the pipeline. From this autumn the 26-year-old will be presenting MTV2's alternative music show Gonzo and she continues to co-present T4's fashion show Frock Me, with designer Henry Holland. Alexa has also recently been named as the face of Lacoste's new perfume Lacoste Joy of Pink. 'I have never done a fragrance before, although it's something I have often been asked to do. But I like Lacoste because of its heritage. It's French and it's a classic brand. Plus Margot in The Royal Tenenbaums is one of my favourite film characters and she wears Lacoste dresses the whole time. So I guess I fitted their bill and they fitted mine.'

How do you look after your skin?
I drink a lot of water and I moisturise regularly: I use Wild Rose face cream by Weleda and Decléor Aromessence Rose D'Orient concentrate. But I don't have a dedicated facialist.

Who does your hair?
I go to Daniel Hersheson; George Northwood styles it and Amy Fish does my colour.

Which is your favourite nail colour?
I like Chanel colours. Particulière is a good one.

Eyeliner or lipliner?
I like the look of women in the 1960s so I often just wear a black cat flick of eyeliner on my top lid.

How would you describe your style?
I love classic things so I really like Chanel's whole aesthetic. I also like playful, youthful clothes. I used to love Luella, but she doesn't design any more, and Meadham Kirchhoff is good. I'm not a very girly girl. I like to dress up, but if it wasn't part of my job I probably wouldn't bother so much.

What are your travel tips?
I've travelled a lot all my life, when I was modelling and for TV. When I fly I use Jurlique
Lavender Hydrating Mist to keep my skin hydrated.
