I think the genius of Alexa's style is that she doesn't wear designer clothes but still manages to look cool.

For me, she is better than all the socialites who are 'style icons'.

I mean Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, MK Olsen - they're all stylish because they wear designer clothes with overpriced handbags and shoes. Of *course* when one wears Balenciaga shoes and Chanel handbags they're going to be labeled as a 'style icon' of sorts.

Alexa is a *true* style icon, because she wears things that are *real*. Her style isn't pretentious and isn't about the latest bag or latest anything for that manner.

She is the perfect example of effortless and ageless style.

She wears designer clothes [occasionally - lots of Chanel and Luella]. Not to mention high end brands [which IMO are overpriced, like Charles Anastase].
She carries overpriced designer bags.
She wears overpriced designer shoes.
Some of them are freebies, some are not.
The moment she starts making the same amount of money Moss does [if ever], we'll see what she'll look like.
Time can only tell.
Alexa is nowhere near "true" style icon yet. She's simply "interesting" at the moment.

Forget about style icon, Kate Moss is an an icon of our times, whether you like her or not. I don't see any reason to compare the two, I don't think their styles are overly similar. However, Alexa's style is a lot more interesting to me that Kate's has been over the last couple of years

I agree that money doesn't buy style - Alexa, Kate etc have an innate sense of style imo.

T4 presenter Alexa Chung also tried her hand at DJ'ing for the night. Her set seemed effortlessly cool, featuring Papa Roach's Last Resort and Ladytron's Send Me a Postcard.

She suffered technical difficulties with her microphone whilst introducing The Novellos and couldn't be heard but that didn't worry her too much especially when her boyfriend and Artic Monkeys front man Alex Turner surprised her with a visit and the pair passionately kissed on the side of the stage, oblivious to anyone else.

She went to Milan and Paris for it and spoke with Christian Lacroix and Angela Missoni!

Do you guys consider Mulberry and Luella 'high fashion' labels?

I mean, those labels are expensive but are by no means Chanel prices.

And Alexa has literally worn Chanel ONCE and that suit was a loan/gift from her ELLE shoot!

All the expensive things she wears are loaned to her. She said so herself in a previous interview. I wouldn't be surprised if Luella gave/loaned her those pieces. I mean if Louis Vuitton is sending her stuff then I'm sure Luella is too, right?

She keeps it stylish under a budget. I've never seen her carry any ultra-expensive bags and most of her shoes are in mid-price range.

GOSH does it even matter?! She's cool and I want to see more of her!

I said "high end" brands, not "high fashion", there's a difference.
She hasn't worn Chanel just once.
Of course she gets freebies. As so many other "celebs" [and Moss as well]
Under budget? Yeah right. For whom?
Never seen her carrying ultra-expensive items? Everyone else has though [us ordinary people]. Her accessories potentially cost more than a month's rent.

Kate Moss has constributed to the fashion world a lot more than Alexa would ever dream of [and I'm not even a Kate fan].

She's so not an icon, no matter how hard you want her to be. YET.
Time will only tell, and I'm quite patient.

[IMO] At the moment, only people like Blanchett [] or Kidman or Daphne Guinness [] can have a title like that. Alexa is interesting and a bit intriguing [hence why I'm here], but wait and see if she'll remain that way a year from now.
