Alexa Chung

Ready or not, the holidays are coming! We asked some notable people from various walks of life about how they’re preparing. A former model and current “It girl” in the U.K., Alexa Chung has hosted a range of British television series.

What’s on your wish list this holiday season?
First and foremost, I would like a Pashley bike with a basket at the front, but I’m fairly certain I’ll be crushed by a London taxi within minutes of setting off. So second on my list would be a violin, because I really want to be part of an orchestra.

What are your plans for New Year’s Eve?
I will be spending New Year’s Eve with my boyfriend [Alex Turner]’s band [the Arctic Monkeys] and all the girlfriends in Sydney, Australia. I’m toying with the idea of DJ-ing that night, but perhaps it would be better to enjoy a barbeque on the beach. Either way, fireworks need to feature heavily.

What are you most looking forward to in 2009?
I’m most looking forward to all of the music festivals in 2009. I really hope I can squeeze in Coachella again, because that was the best festival I’ve ever been to. I’d also love to attend Fuji Rock, because I’ve never been before.

What are you doing to avoid the effects of the recession?
I’m not doing anything to avoid the effects of the recession—if anything I’m spending more now. I just blew £1,500 on a Chanel bag. It made me want to be sick. But hopefully my spending will encourage others to spend, and then the economy will eventually get back on track.

Interesting that she likes Coachella best. I've been to Coachella, and while it is amazing, I've always assumed the English festivals are better.

Also, I find it slightly annoying when people comment on how much things cost them. :yuk:

I like the shoes she is wearing in the second to last picture. I would never be able to walk in shoes like those but I like them:p

I always thought that too but I guess Alexa must either love the whole enviroment of Coachella or she just enjoys the hot summer heat of California since all the English festivals are quite chilly, weather wise:p

Ugh, me too! I feel really embarrassed when people (my mom) asks how much I spend on my purchases because if I spent way too much on something they look at me as if I did a horrible thing. I just say that I could not remember how much it costed:blush:

Your welcome! I also tried on the Luella dress but it just doesn't look as good on me!

I agree, the environment is what makes Coachella. It's definitely the best festival I've ever been to.

What's even worse than telling people how much you spent is asking how much you spent! I like the response Jerry gave to Kramer on Seinfeld. Kramer asks, "How much did you pay for that?" And Jerry says, "I paid what it cost." ^_^

Thanks for the IDs, mahdama and DaydreamNation. :flower:

I actually prefer the colder weather but that is because I live in California and get sick of the heat:p

I know,ugh, I hate it! I will for now use that line:lol:

hahahaha... i know where she's going to be when she goes to sydney. any money she hits up hugo's, fringe, world bar, and oxford art factory. and she'll go shopping on oxford st, crown, the vintage/hipster haunts... all sydney-siders should play spot alexa when she's here. ^_^

oh and i just remembered, another thing for sydney siders, but parlour x in five ways, paddington, is selling alexa's heart print charles anastase dress. as far as i know, parlour x is the only charles anastase stockist in sydney. it's currently in their window, i walked past it today and got all excited but the shop wasn't open yet haha.

Thanks, DiamondSea! I love her jumper. If only Alex would have budged out the way for us to get a better look, eh?

What? When is she coming to Australia? Perhaps she'll also hang about in Paddington? Man, I'm about to go to the US!

Alexa came up on my WhoWhatWear newsletter today. We might already know where all her items came from already, but I thought I'd post anyway..

"Alexa Chung
Once again, we are moonstruck over an Alexa Chung outfit! The self-styled TV presenter captured your hearts, as well, when she attended the British Fashion Awards last month dressed in a Future Classics Zipper Doll Dress ($580, 310.360.8008), hand-me-down leather jacket, vintage Mulberry clutch, and her aforementioned favorite Jonathan Kelsey for Mulberry Boots ($895). If you are in need of a similar, more accessible outfit, try pairing Chung's dress with Delia's Ashton Pleather Jacketicon ($60), RSVP's Ivy Boots ($102), and GlamRock's Studded Clutch ($62)."
