wwd.comCOVERING THE SHOWS: Speaking of covering the shows, fashion Web sites and blogs in flusher times have roped in celebrities as buzzy contributors to their sites. (Remember Tinsley Mortimer and Melania Trump reporting for New York magazine?) But in a recession, fewer publications are looking to pay actors and reality TV stars to write for them, and several editors admitted that online items written by celebrities aren’t any more popular with readers than reviews and commentary by seasoned fashion critics. So this year, many are deploying their own staffs to report in timelier ways, adding Twitter and video look books to their Web sites to cover the collections. Glamour, Elle, In Style, Lucky, New York and Harper’s Bazaar are all covering the shows via Twitter, many for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, Style.com will provide “The Fashion Feed,” a one-stop shop for tweets from 40 fashion individuals and publications, including models Chanel Iman and Dree Hemingway; designers Tory Burch and Chris Benz; MTV host Alexa Chung, and blogs like The Sartorialist, The New York Times’ style blog The Moment, and WWD. Style.com’s editors will also be tweeting from the shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris.

The alphabet tights that alexa wore way back in march/may time are now on sale.
.Alexa Chung's US MTV chatshow is to air on the network's UK outlet from next week.
It's On with Alexa Chung was one of the centrepieces of MTV's new season of programmes for this autumn in the US when it was unveiled in April.
A successor to daytime talk and music show TRL, which was hosted by Carson Daly and ran for 10 years until November last year, It's On … also features a live studio audience and input from viewers via Twitter and Facebook.
MTV's UK network will air 19 stripped episodes of the show between Monday and Thursday at 4pm, three weeks after their US transmission. The UK broadcast begins on Monday.
"Alexa has proven to be a huge success in the US and it's a great coup to bring the show over here to the UK," said Heather Jones, the director of television at MTV Networks UK and Ireland.
The show is produced by the US independent producer Reveille, part of Elisabeth Murdoch's Shine Group, and is executive produced by Tim Healy, Sebastian Scott, Howard Owens and Mark Koops
