Alexa Chung

It is worth checking Arthur Beale in Covent Garden- they stock the same top for about £25- and you get to try it on before. It's the same shop Alexa buys her breton as cited by her stylist a while back. Also, the top you should pick is the navy and cream for Alexas exact match.

johanna isn't in the public eye so i don't really see the point in talking about her/essentially saying she's a less-pretty version of alexa.... :/ idk just seems kind of unnecessary and slightly rude imo!

I am not sure if this is addressed directly to me, but the debate about whether or not the two look alike had been going on for a day or so in the thread; thus I simply weighed in that I think there is a slight similarity.

As for saying one is prettier than the other, personally I don't find that rude. It's just an opinion, like saying I think Kirsten Dunst is prettier than Cameron Diaz.

Is Johanna the girlfriend of one of the Kings of Leon? If so, I'd assume she is in the public eye somewhat, and from the photos I've seen (admittedly not that many), she seems to have a funky sense of style.

BrittanyJadex - thanks for letting us in on the sailor top secret! I have a weakness for striped Ts. If I order another my husband is likely to go bonkers. LOL.

Izzi - I think Alexa's able to pull off so many looks because she's got a models body. Yes, the prettiness helps, but the perfect coltish legs go a long way (pun intended). Lucky her! I am 5'7" so not nearly as tall or skinny. I can pull off some of the looks but others, not so much.

The fact that Alexa & Johanna do or do not look alike is not really very interesting-can we get over it?

Quote:On a general note, I have come to realise that it's unrealistic and unachievable to emulate Alexa's style. There are a couple of girls who I know who attempt to dress like her, but end up being so far off, and I still can't put my finger on why. I'll often see clothes that I could never imagine Alexa wearing / I think look hideous, yet she then manages to pull them off so well. I'll just never be Alexa..

I think it's her limbs...Alexa is so long and elegant, she can make the plainest outfits look graceful

Wow Alexa in a maxi! I'm generally not a big fan of them on myself, and even shes tall and has long lengs I never imagined her wearing one! I don't really think it's her style to be honest.

sailor_stripes thankyou so much for the website! :)

Agreed. And since I kind of started I'll end it... by saying that calling someone prettier than another person may or may not be rude, but it definitely insinuates some sort of beauty hierarchy or rank. Which really doesn't make sense as beauty like many things is subjective. Those kind of comments just remind me of those ranks that men magazines like maxim do. Hmm... you'll be number 42, because you're obviously not as pretty as number 14.

Very true - beauty, like fashion, like personal style, is "subjective" in terms of how we judge it and/or what we like. I'll try to stick to judging the fashion as opposed to prettiness. Was not intended to offend anyone.

can someone tell me the name of the chanel's bag she's wearing while grocery shopping'?

Ah I've always wanted to get to Arthur Beale, I used to Google them relentlessly before I found that site.

It is definitely definitely White/Navy though on that site as I have it and it's the exact same!

Dear Alexa,

I write this from London where I am melting in a heat unbeknownst even to Hades.

I have lost my fashion mojo. I look a mess. I may even be a little soggy.

And there you are.

Breezing through summer with your irresistible brand of chic. Cool and unflappable in a beautiful maxi dress.

For the sake of the sisterhood - and my self-esteem - might you bring it down a notch and stop looking so damn perfect?

Yours in envy,
Sarah x

*laughs* I'm pretty sure I could write her that letter whatever the weather.

You could pull that off though:

^ haha I love that "letter"
So lucky that it's hot, it's freezing in Australia. It's an understatement to say that Alexa can really put an outfit together. She really just gets use of all these random pieces; it makes it a really great and fun approach to fashion that no one else really does.

No its white and cream- they only stock that top in that colour at the store and she purchases her top there...

I bought that dress the other day, I think it's perfect and for £18. You can't ask for more really.
I only bought it because I don't particularly like the multi-coloured over the top maxi dresses.
Reassures me that Alex made the same choice

Ahh, I was going to buy that on pay day next week - would you definitely recommend it then? I'm the same, I really hate all the frilly garish maxi dresses around (especially as I live in Liverpool and all the Scouse girls and football WAGs LOVE them, ugh!) but stupidly enough, if I'm thinking of making a bit of a different fashion move I always think if Alexa would do it... if she has I feel confident enough to!

How stupid, really...! :innocent:

Weird - the online French shop doesn't stock the Miniquiers shirt (the one she has/I have) in cream and navy, they only do it in white and navy - they only do other heavier shirts in cream! Ah well, they both look much of a muchness anyway.

When I get paid I'm buying a red and cream one and a white on navy, my entire wardrobe will be made up off Alexa Bretons!

Alexa is in the new Vogue US - the age issue - with Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover. She is featured in a story called "Bird of Britain" shot by Mario Sorrenti. I think she's mentioned on the cover - it says 20s VJ turned Designer - or something like that. I imagine that would be Alexa's story.
