BBC Documentary 'The Works' - Alexander McQueen 'Cutting Up Rough' 1997 (Full)

He truly relied on his "honesty". and in today's world everyone 'want to hear how good they are, how nice their magazine is'. i don't think it's a model for the 21st century. this is not how fashion is going to survive in the 21st century."

well unfortunately my dear beloved Alexander, this went the opposite way.

It's true, Berlin.

And I'm honestly not sure how much longer this nicey-nice way of going about things in the industry is going to last? There's way too much garbage out there - garbage runway shows, garbage collections, garbage models, garbage ad campaigns, garbage magazines, etc. and it's all getting praised! Why is no one speaking up and demanding quality! I'm really getting discouraged with fashion lately. There's no one left who inspires. It's all swimming with the current. Such a shame.

#TBT with Tim Blanks (style.com)

Alexander McQueen’s Controversial "Highland r*pe" Show

Tim Blanks revisits Alexander McQueen’s Fall 1995 show, “Highland r*pe,” which introduced the world not only to the designer’s trademark bumster pants, but also to his fierce national pride. The models’ torn garments and bloodied bodies ignited a fury, but this was no endorsement of r*pe, it was an exploration of Scotland’s turbulent history with England.

Alexander McQueen's Spring 1997 La Poupée Collection

Inspired by German artist Hans Bellmer, Alexander McQueen's Spring 1997 La Poupée collection was all about fetishization, and featured some of the most outrageous accessories ever seen on a runway. Tim Blanks looks back at a designer who constantly tested the limits—his own, those of his models, and of his audience.

Alexander McQueen’s Spring '99 Show Feat. Shalom Harlow

Alexander McQueen’s career had many high points, but his Spring '99 collection proved to be among his most visionary work as a designer. Featuring Aimee Mullins on a pair of custom-designed prosthetic legs and a riveting grand finale with Shalom Harlow, the collection showcased McQueen’s unparalleled talent and unique understanding of beauty.

Alexander McQueen Joan of Arc Collection Fall/Winter 1998

Alexander McQueen often looked to strong women as inspiration and his Fall 1998 show was no different. In this episode of #TBT, which features an interview with McQueen, Tim Blanks looks back on the thrilling and frightening show that epitomized the designer’s passion for pushing boundaries and culminated with Erin O’Connor surrounded by a ring of fire.

Gisele Bündchen in Alexander McQueen’s Spring 1998 Golden Shower Fashion Show

Tim Blanks reflects on Alexander McQueen’s Spring 1998 show, The Golden Shower. The designer was famous for his runway spectacles, but this one in particular lingers with our Editor-at-Large, not because it featured a rookie model by the name of Gisele Bündchen, but because of its extraordinary emotional resonance. "It's proof that he was a magician."
