Ranked #24 on models.com Top 50 Male Models, Alexandre Cunha is a favorite among bloggers and now more of a household name because of that beautiful moment at the 2011 Smalto (S/S 2012) show. A month ago, shortly before the start of New York Fashion Week I had the privilege of interviewing Alexandre. Beauty, charm and sex appeal is what we see looking at his work. His work translate as to who he is as person – beautiful, charming and a whole lot of sex appeal. Not much on words but straightforward and sincere, Alexandre is a man who is sure of himself, in love with his lady and lives in the present. Enjoy my Alexandre Cunha interview.
Tee: How are you doing Alexandre?
Alexandre: Pretty well, thank you… Even better after the re-energizing, vacations on the beach.
Tee: What does most of your family and friends call you?
Alexandre: Xande.
Tee: Where are you currently?
Alexandre: NY. I’m travelling all around but based in Paris.
Tee: As a model you are always on the move. Where do you call home for the most part?
Alexandre: Paris!
Tee: Do you enjoy living there?
Alexandre: Definitely yes. I love the city.
Tee: What was life like growing up in Brazil?
Alexandre: Life has always been fun, friends, soccer, party, sun, school and college.
Tee: What do your family and friends back home (Brazil) think of your career as a model?
Alexandre: They all suport me now. I’m grateful to have family and friends like them… Before there was a doubt about it, but today it is sure.
Tee: Would you say 2011-currently is the highest point in your career so far?
Alexandre: Definitely not! I still have a lot to do and to grow in the career.
Tee: For some models the older they get the better they are as models, does this goes for you as well?
Alexandre: Yes!!
Tee: What would your advice be to the young Alexandre?
Alexandre: Do everything exactly the same as you did.
Tee: Are you skeptical of your work?
Alexandre: No. I like my job.
Tee: What is your favorite campaign you have been in?
Alexandre: Bowen. It’s all about me and I expressed myself as I wanted.
Tee: Who is/are your favorite photographer/s?
Alexandre: Mario Testino, Giampaolo Sgura, Francois Valois, Sabine Villiard, Nacho Ricci, Matthew Scrivens.
Tee: Who are you itching to work with?
Alexandre: Mert and Marcus and Steven Meisel.
Tee: Is the world of male modeling as competitive as we often hear about female modeling?
Alexandre: Yes because it is less guys and also less clients.
Tee: What would your advice be to a freshly started/aspiring male model?
Alexandre: Be yourself.
Tee: Do you have heroes? Who are they and why are they?
Alexandre: No heroes. I like Bob Marley, I like his attitude. I like people that changes people around to a better world.
Tee: You are dating the beautiful Maud Le Fort (Model), Does she make a honest man out of you? What is your favorite thing about her?
Alexandre: She is light. She is lively and I understand all the true of this world in her. She is my inspiration. My love!
Tee: Recently you have gotten a tattoo on your hip and piercing on your ear (tragus). What does your tattoo say?
Alexandre: A vida È meu presente. (Portuguese) – It is my present life.
Tee: Plan on getting more tattoos and piercings?
Alexandre: No plans for now. I will decide the other one in the same day. So if I’ll have to do, I’ll feel it.
Tee: I’ve seen you play soccer, which you are great at. Is that apart of your fitness regime?
Alexandre: Soccer is my lifestyle. I love it. I can’t live without it. I’ve been playing since 4 years old.
Tee: How would you describe your personal style?
Alexandre: Street. Jeans. Simple. Boards.
Tee: You are fan of Bob Marley, The Beatles and Coldplay. What is it about their music that makes you a fan?
Alexandre: Music that moves my heart in lyrics and grooves.
Tee: Any music recommendations?
Alexandre: I like this new band, Fun. I love The Strokes and Radiohead. My favorite album music wise is Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band from the Beatles.
Tee: I am sure many of heard or rather watch your Armani Exchange video of you singing Bob Marley’s No Woman no cry. Impeccable vocals. Is music something you plan on getting into?
Alexandre: Just for fun! I like to play guitar and chill with my friends.
Tee: Acting, music or both?
Alexandre: Acting.
Tee: What’s next for you?
Alexandre: Tomorrow!
Tee: In 5 years where do you hope to see yourself?
Alexandre: No idea.
Tee: Message to fans and supporters?
