The collection was inspired by the 'bóia-frias' (literally cold meal), workers of the 'sertão' (northern part of the country) in crops that are not their own. Their work is seasonal and they must bring their own food, and by the fact it can't be heatened up, is eaten cold. The sillouetes were loose and light, and Herchcovitch's favorites were there: plaids, patterns, flowers, black and blue and lots of layering. It's a memorable collection, especially the pieces made with trash bags. They demonstrate that Alexandre is master of his domain and can turn into beautiful pieces anything he wants. The irony however, rests on the fact that hundreds of women will pay very high prices to look like people who, more often than not, have nothing to eat.

i really really like this

cool.
this is very minimal for him.
Is this collection Just to be sold in Brazil? (tropical climate)

It is very light for a FW collection.

Oh! This is a nice surprise. There are quite a few pieces that I like here. The first set of outfits do look like they're right out of a spring collection though.

This is exactly what I expect from him, and a really nice surprise after S/S. His pattern mixing is masterful.

^indeed,he is.

i like this alot! very lovely.

don't like the sound of that last comment, however, pandinha. hopefully, this isn't an exploit. seems genuine enough. maybe, with this inspiration, he should set up a fund and use part of the profits made from this collection to send food and such to them.

i'm sure he will do something of the kind, scott, he doesn't get me as some kind of exploiter but what makes me sad are the rich women of this country. they couldn't care less and they've got the money. is the whole 5% of the population holds 90% of the wealth and stuff. :P

you guys don't think it's a bit of a dual collection,no? a sort of collection to sell for the opposite seasons in the southern and northern hemisphere's? like shutterbug said, the first set looks rather spring-like and the second is very autumnal...

you're right he doesn't. but that's terribly sad to hear about the wealthy's disregard for the poor...maybe if he,Alexandre does do something like i suggested,it will be a kind of slap in the face to them..haha

haha I can definitely see the sudden change between the first half of the show and then the darker other, however, I think that's how he's often combining the european and south american influences in his shows, no?. I like to think he's not doing it to please all geographical regions.. though i obviously wouldnt rule it out considering Brazil goes winter when the north is going summer and vice versa.
Anyway, I love this..

zamb: this is the same collection he'll be showing at NYC fashion week in February. bound to be everywhere. :flower:

pandinha: I can totally hear your complains.. Mr. Carlos Slim alone here holds 45% of the country's wealth.. :ninja:
is Herchcovitch very sought-after by the cream of the crop though?, I'd figure he'd be more appealing to a different sector of the wealthy ones.. those who are more into arts. but I dont know, it might work differently over there, I know he'd be quite the punk here.. which wouldnt stop rich old women from buying his clothes for the fun of having a "crazy, radical day".:P

well- i guess i can skip this show...

Ouch. I can't say I love his execution, but with the second half, I feel we're going to see a lot of those ideas throughout the coming collections.

I agree...it seems like it's the same silhouette season after season sans or avec a crazy print...

i like the minitrench (omg it's not the end of these yet!) worn on a trashbag hooded jacket... and the combinaisons that starts like jackets and ends trousers... but the silhouette will make the women look like "sac à patates" (literaly potatoes bags!)

The irony however, rests on the fact that hundreds of women will pay very high prices to look like people who, more often than not, have nothing to eat.
hehe. power of fashion!

I wonder if this is a normal trench (long) or is a shorter version of a trench... if it's a shorter version then forget about it... i get it's inspired by poor people... but you can make poor people's inspiration looks better and worked.
for instance, this one looks better.

sac à patates, i'll say...
